On tap at C’est What? (Toronto, ON). Pours a murky black color with one finger creamy tan head. Aroma is sweet and roasted with notes of coffee, ripe dark fruit, caramel, some light spice. Flavor is sweet and roasted with notes of caramel, toffee, coffee, brown sugar, some burnt wood. Generally medium body with a malty and light roasted finish.

Draft @ C’est What? (Toronto) Poured a black coffee color with an aroma of coffee, roasted malts, and chocolate. The flavor was more of the same with some nice bitterness thrown in. Overall, quite good.

Tap at C’est What: Poured a light black color porter with a light foamy head with average retention and minimal lacing. Aroma of dry coffee with light roasted malt notes. Taste is also dominated by dry coffee notes with some light bitter roasted malt notes. Dryness is well balance with good carbonation but body is somewhat thin. Not bad for the style but nothing to write home about as well.

nitro dispense at CW. long, moderately assertive coffee note, some styrene-like plastic flavors. Not bad.

Nitro. Pours looking like a latte, very nitro-looking. Head forms a straight line, etc. Strong beany nose, flavors also beany. Thin, watery, and silken due to nitro. Not a lot of complexity but not a bad beer.

Objectively speaking: A light-bodied, but fairly aromatic coffee porter.
I like: More than fair coffee aroma, avoiding the wet beany trap and heading towards roastier, more complete territory. Focused, grainy, almost chocolatey complexity never takes over, but remains there all throughout.
I dislike: A bit light-bodied where it could be cakey rich and filling. Trying to remain highly drinkable, but a bit too sweet and green to be truly so.

Bu sur place, en fut (330 ml). Couleur noir, bon collet. Arome choco café, un peu malté. Goût de malte légèrement roti, café un peu amère, finission sec. Pas mauvais mais pas assez malté à mon goût!

Half pint at the brewpub- Deep dark brown, almost black letting some light in around the edges. Head is a medium creamy cap that lasts and laces. Nose is of black coffee, dark chocolate, grainy malts, some vanilla. The flavour profile is roasty malts and black coffee and hints at nice bitterness. Dark chocolate and a woody vanilla essence also holds its own. Very creamy and drinkable. Up there in quality with its Mill Street competition. Very tasty.
