| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Mar 17, 2007 (Bottled) Hazy orange-amber color with a smallish, white and lacy head. Fruity aroma with sweetish caramel and some woody balsamico notes. Even more fruity with yeast. Orange-fruity, slightly tart flavor with low bitterness. Smooth and fruity with yeast. Medium-bodied, reasonably refreshing palate with foamy carbonation. Quite good for the ABV, and pleasantly fresh’n’fruity - yet not a masterpiece. fiulijn (7520), Como; Lausanne (CH); Malmö (SWE), Italy
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Apr 14, 2006 Beautiful amber color; fine perlage; creamy head. Very nice aroma, of old cellar and hops, so peculiar, very close to an Orval, but sweeter. Medium body structure, some malt, some tart, much simpler than the aroma lets hope. | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jun 4, 2005 (Bottle 33 cl) This is the original version from "Brij Crombé" in Zottegem. Beautifuly golden with a pretty decent head. Some caramel-like notes, yet rather dry, light-bodied and pleasantly refreshing. An imperial beer indeed... 230297 omhper (12319), Stockholm, Sweden

Cloudy amber, small head. Oxidized arma of tofee and paper. There’s Caramel and roasted malt, velvetty mouthfeel and notes of fruit. The finish bears signs of aging - citric and fizzy. JorisPPattyn (5193), Antwerpen, Belgium
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Aug 18, 2004 Light amber beer with slight greenish shine; huge yellow head, dense, collapsing and leaving lace. Initial powerful vanilla-like smell, touch woody and some solvent; then a nose as from grapefruit, and lots of citrussy hops. Bitter taste, but more than just hops. Also some roasted malts and burnt caramel (this characteristic was there already in the original Crombe version - the Strubbe seems more and better hopped). There is a slight-sourish, citrussy component, as much part of the taste as from the mouthfeel. Light bodied. Surprisingly well-hopped, and the grapefruit touch makes me wonder whether these might be American hops... Again! I seem to like the Strubbe version better than the Crombe. I’ll have to try the "Strubbe" kriek after all. lachesis (759), St Idesbald, Belgium
