Zythos Beer Fest Mars 2005 jfm (1695), Holbæk, Denmark

The taste is a mild sour body with notes of straw and stables. Nice lemony sour notes on the palate. Not a bad gueuze as I expected. JorisPPattyn (5181), Antwerpen, Belgium
| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Feb 6, 2005 Clear straw gold with slight haze, Champenoise pearling to white-transparant, for a gueuze pretty stable head. Great Brett nose, lemony & freshly baked white bread, some solvent. Refreshing tart taste with some yeasty, meaty esters - seems not only horseblanket, but horsemeat as well (out of bounds beer for British tasters). Lemon, wood, faint solvent. Very refreshing, tart, long dry-out effect. I’m flabbergasted. This is at least as good as the old De Troch gueuze. Jos can still do it, it would appear. Does he really need this tainted "Chapeau" moniker? Dalle (1146), Skørping, Denmark
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jan 23, 2005 Bottle. Unclear straw colour with nice, lasting head. Acidic, dry, vanilla, milk and honey notes, touch of barnyard. Initially quite fizzy, softens/improves if left for a while. Quite good, easy drinking gueuze. kook (2034), Perth, Western Australia, Australia

Leather, citrus and oak in aroma. Sweet cane sugar start with a lemon mid. Citric sour/tart finish. Very well balanced, keeps you wanting more without getting too sour. Cleansing mouthfeel. Refreshing! bierkoning (6066), La Tropica, Netherlands
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Nov 1, 2004 Grape sugar aroma with oak and honey. Very sour and oaky. Dusty, honeyish. Lemon. Forget the Chapeau fruit beers, De Troch can really make a good geuze. pivo (2537), Germany
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Oct 13, 2004 Vegtable sour nose, pale gold color, foamy head. Thin and citrusy malt body. Crisp centered sourness. A little piney too. Too young to server? Needs more support for the sourness. TimE (1308), Tokyo, Japan
