Basically a sour, vinegary taste, rough and ugly. You can see why they added assorted fruits. Parket (254), Bruges, Belgium

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jun 28, 2009 (375ml bottle) Pours a cloudy golden orange body with a tall fizzy white head. Aroma of leather, mustiness, lemon, and grapefruit peel. Flavor of tart grapefruit and lots of funkiness. Has aggressive carbonation, in fact the cork popped off on its own. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Feb 7, 2009 Bottle: Thanks Flaco Alto! Pours hazy light golden with a white tan ring. Very old musty/corky aroma with cobweb, apple skin, horse blanket, just very old smelling. Slick bodied with a nice acidity. The low pH blends with an old cork/cobweb character. Not really lively enough, but interesting. goldtwins (4081), Nesconset, New York, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Feb 4, 2009 Poured a hazed light gold color with minimal head. The aroma was tart with notes of citrus lemon, grass, sweaty, and some leather. Acidic. The flavor is very nice. Tart and mildly acidic. Light body with a tart finish. notalush (2669), Denver, Colorado, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Feb 1, 2009 Thanks to PilsnerPeter for sharing - hazy gold - no head - the aroma is very corky and cellared, with a lot of earthy must and mild blue cheese-like funk - the flavor is super briny and salty, which washes out a lot of the cellared quality from the aroma - very acidic, with a lot of complex funkiness developing throughout, especially as it warms up - this was actually quite nice - I can’t believe I like a chapeau beer! beerbill (1956), Laurel, New York, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Feb 1, 2009 Bottle shared by PilsnerPeter. Pours a hazy gold with a very thin head. The aroma is very musty. Actually, I think it is mildew to be more precise. Some moderate sourness and cork in the nose as well. The flavor is tart and sour with no sign of the mildew that is present in the aroma. A bit musty in the flavor, but not unpleasant. Becomes more acidic as it approaches the finish. tytoanderso (1387), St. Louis Park, Minnesota, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Dec 20, 2008 375ml bottle. Acidic, tart, rotting citrus zest initially on the nose. Musty basement and a hint of horseblanket. Wet leather with some wet grass and wet leaf pile aromas as well. Slightly dusty. Pours a bright, clear gold with a thin ring of white around the edge of my glass. Pretty acidic and brash flavor profile. Plenty of funk, vinegar, wood and sour yeast. Incredibly dry and tart. Wow... pretty high acidity without much to balance. Grassy and dirty. Acidic lemon zest. Snappy carbonation and crisp on the tongue with a pretty harsh acidic finish. This is pretty tasty stuff. Like a more acidic Cuvee Renee and just as drinkable. Not sure of why the low ratings for this one. Thanks for the rare treat John!
