Flavor is strawberry syrup with faint chocolate. Sour finish. A bit watery on the tongue. Very enjoyable. fly (1333), austin, Tejas, USA
| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 9/20 | Oct 9, 2007 Can I compare thee to the first time I had sex? Well, only in part - the sex was far better. Just had been anticipating having a faro for a while. Something about this label that I admittedly know litle about gave me the idea that it would likely not be the very best.
I knew that faro had sugar added. Suppose that if the beer was SUPER sour that it might survive. I’m not big on sweet, but do love sour. This came across like asweet -tart (the candy). Pear and bla bla bla - if it’s not going to try any harder to be a good beer it just doesn’t inspire me to leave a better rating. biz82 (1328), austin, Texas, USA
| 1.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 4/5 | 2/10 | 4/5 | 6/20 | Oct 6, 2007 Really beautiful pour. Clear reddish amber with a thick rich head. Vinegar aroma. Extra sweet in flavor with vinegar. Nice body. Really, really bad flavor though. No bitterness. legion242 (1588), Richardson, Texas, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Oct 6, 2007 As expected for the style. Quickly fading head, lots of sour green apple on the tounge with that hint of sweetness. mmmbeer (765), Austin, Texas, USA
| 2.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 1/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 8/20 | Oct 5, 2007 Poured amber with head, heavy carbonation. Aroma of rotten fruit and wooden barrel, not very appealing. Hits the mouth with heavy carbonation, vinegar, and slight fruit flavor. Finish near non-existant, a little sweet and sour. Was expecting more since their Banana is a personal favorite of mine, let down. Guerde (710), Welcome, Minnesota, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 5, 2007 (bottle, thanks JK) Pours light amber with a minimal white head and a large amount of sediment. Aroma was of apple cider, malty sweet, with also some sugar snap peas. Tasted very sweet with some brown sugar, cinnamon, and a baked apple finish. Pretty good. akevitt (97), Valhalla, Minnesota, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Sep 5, 2007 Many thanks to JK for sharing! The beer had a weak brown color with a fair amount of sediment. Sweet fruit and alcohol were present in the aroma. Nice sweet/sour flavor with a nice sweet fruit finish. JK (2967), Richfield, Minnesota, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 4, 2007 Purchased March 2007 in Brussels, for no other reason than the style is so rare and hard to get, especially in the United States. I enjoyed this beer. Hardly world class, and surely the weakest faro I have had, but like all of Chapeau’s products, it is very drinkable. The aroma has caramelized sugar. A dark brown beer with tons of sediment like all Chapeau products. Sweet flavor with apple, brown sugar, very light hops surprisingly, just a hint of barnyard, from whatever actual lambic is actually in this beer, and finally yeast.
