For a chapeau surprisingly decent. Smell of strawberry, not really artificial. Cloudy, brown-red coloured with an off-white, thin head. Taste is sweet siruppy, fruity (strawberries) and a bit sour finish. Thick mouthfeel, more dry in the end.

The body is a very cloudy medium brown. It has a slightly pink colored head. The aroma is light and cheap strawberry candy along with some sickly sweet honey. There is also a little lambic character if you look for it. Some hay and a hint of balsamic vinegar. The taste is very sweet and artificial, like Chapeau’s other lambics. There is strawberry with a little bit of hay and some hint of mild sourness.

Pleasant mild strawberry aroma, nice carbonation, with a refreshingly mild strawberry flavor. Too sweet for me, but not bad.

Bottle. Also annoying in the back of my fridge, like the cherries one. Pours a light pink color. The aroma is actually kinda pleasant: floral strawberries. Then you take a sip and are greeted with the very distinct bland-chemical note of frozen strawberry, with some jelly qualities. Best of those that I’ve had from this brewery.

(Bottle 25 cl) Reddish brown, off white head and a slight haze. Strawberry flavour is very strong but appears authentic. Sweet yes, but not stickingly so. Not a bad choice for a fruit beer. 030998

Tasted 27/06/2005. 250ml bottle from Rumble’s, Wellington. Murky brown-gold. Pink airy head disappears slowly. Aroma is strongly of cheap, sugary, strawberry jam and overripe strawberries. Very sweet, sugar syrup flavour, has a pretty clean finish at first but becomes cloying. Powedery residue left on the palate. Might be an ok desert beer, with a nice tart or something but isn’t great for drinking alone unless you like sugary sweet drinks. Intereesting, at best.

Vintage 2000: Pouring a hazy yellow/straw color, this has a very strong fresh strawberry aroma. The flavor is clean and fruity, strawberries with hints of other added fruits. The finish is tart and refreshing. A good Summer drink.

Bottle - corked and capped. Pours a clouded and brown ruby with a tall foamy pinkish head. Nose is fruity and semi-sweet. Lots of berry notes, strawberry and raspberry as well, with light wood, tart fruit, and light barnyard. Not too sweet, thankfully. Taste is very strawberry jam-like with light wood, dried fruit, and lighy yeasty notes. Body is tart and dry with light acidity and mild stickiness. Finish with more sweetness to it and strong strawberry jam notes, light wood and yeast and tart fruits. Not as bad as I was expecting. This is a rather pleasant "beginners" lambic. Definitely nice on a warm day, as well.
