Flavor is not very sour but mostly sweet with a sirupy sensation on the lips. Drinkable but not very exciting. Nuffield (2724), Roseville, Minnesota, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 9/20 | Jul 27, 2003 Odd brown-amber color, little head. Musty, sweet, cellar aroma, like a vintage English strong ale. Not effevescent. Too sweet! Sour attack on the palate with the first taste, then cloyingly sweet. Big-time woody flavor, lots of cork, lacking complexity in my opinion, very much a cellar cask. Finishes with the same flavors. dhurtubise (568), Hamilton, Ontario, Canada
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Jul 1, 2003 Gold-amber gold with a white head. Big bubbles. Some acidity in the nose and a strange process cheese flavour come through. Very sweet little commercial gueuze that is not very good. Frank (1066), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Jul 1, 2003 Lambic aroma hits as soon as the seal on the cap is broken. Pours a nice ever-so-slightly hazy golden orange. Head is huge initially but fades fast to a quarter inch. Nose is sour but it's sharpness is cut by a sweet apple note and a hint of mustiness. The carbonation looks intense when this is poured but it feels a bit dead on the palate in addition to being slightly syrupy. Flavor is dominated by a vague sort of sourness with some apple and caramel notes far off in the background. Not terribly complex and as such not a gueuze much worth drinking. | 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | May 25, 2003 A cloudy dark yellow with a quickly gone white head. A fruity head with some champagne. The aroma is so much apple it's almost cider and has some vinegar-ish acid.

Vinegar and fruits in the nose. Lots of apple in the flavour. Very sweet and some faint notes of sourness. Not very wellbalanced beer, but still quite fresh. estoppel (1028), Buffalo, New York, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Jan 11, 2003 There"s all sorts of big, dark, nasty looking fragments of something floating around in this one; I don"t think it"s yeast. Fairly clear golden body with the aforementioned chunks, tiny head, weak nose, a bit sour, a bit sweet, with muted apples. The largest chunks have settled to the bottom, but it"s going to take some courage to try this. Overly sweet; more like apple juice than gueuze. Some oak character. Label is different than pictured (greens and grays, with Chapeau at the bottom and Gueuze at the top), so maybe this isn"t the same thing that others have given high marks (same brewer, though - someone else mentioned that there was a sweetened export version? This might be that). Hansen (2269), Randers, Denmark

I guess I have to drink it some more before I’m going to like it.
