Description: Since many decades, the brewers of the Senne valley are brewing Lambic. In the 19th century they have created several fruit beers. The Chapeau Kriek is a fresh and delicious beer for delightful moments.

This beer offers a nice enticing cherry aroma. This beer is rose colored with a light pink colored head. This beer is thin and mildly tingles the tongue but does not produce much of a taste.

Best before date isn’t notched on this bottle. Transparent dirty orange color with no head, a few carbonation bubbles and that’s it. Aroma and flavor both have a candied cherry character to them with musty farmhouse funk taking over in the finish. Long cork/wood aftertaste.

Brick red muck. Compact pinkish head. Nose is dominated by paint and medicinal cherry aromatics. Touch of musty concrete. Softly carbonated. Soggy, heavily sweet frontal notes of cherries which is entirely one-dimensional. Flabby sweetness steadily climbs and the sparse acidity fails to allay the aggressiveness of it. No complexity, whatsoever. Finishes just as it started, only with the faintest note of iron swirled with a strawlike malt accent as the temperature rises. A “kriek lambic” eh? Back to the drawing board because this is borderline abominable.

I’m going to be contrarian on this one. Pours hazy ruby with very small white head. Nose is faint cherry. Cherry flavor predominates, very sweet, with some oak leaves and a faint mustiness towards the end. Refreshing, easy to drink, and underrated.

Aroma of cherries, a bit of sourness. Poured a burnt amber with a tiny bit of soda like head. Flavor was totally off, funky, unpleasant, and palate was way too thick and creamy for a lambic.

Smells a bit of cherry chloraceptic. Raspberry colored with a thin pink-tinted white head. Cherry flavor in the fore, but some odd pesticide flavor follows strongly afterwards. Cherry-Raid! It tastes like it could almost be good, but as it is that pesticide flavor is way too off putting.

I liked this one. Not exceptional, definitely not an everyday beer, but an interesting experience nonetheless. The smell has some odd associations, cherry glue, sweet, almost artificial and cloying, with very candy notes. Teaste is not as sweet as belied by the smell. Very sippable.

Tap, ZBF 2005. Hazy red brown, thin pinkish head and low condition. Artificial syrupy sweet cherry notes pervade throughout. Not at all pleasant.
