Commercial Description:
Charleston Brown is made with roasted Belgian and Munich Malts and expertly blended with a touch of toasted dark malt. American and British hops yield a balanced flavor - not too sweet - a very complicated and interesting flavor.

Pours deep brown with medium tan head. Aroma of roasty malt, corn flakes, chocoff, some figs. Tastes roasty malty, with chocoff. Lighter in palate and complexity than the aroma would suggest. Not bad.

Dark Raspberry aroma , clean and pleasant . Flat in taste , as some lesser brown can be . Not as bad as some might think . Average .

Dark brown color, small head with a malty aroma. Toffee flavor, not very hoppy. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean. Aftertaste is malty. Spectacularly unimpressive brown ale. Drinkable and better than BUD.

Draught at Charlotte International Airport. Pours brown with an average, frothy, off-white, lasting head with good lacing. Aroma is average malt (cookie, caramel, nutty), light hops (herbs), average yeast (leather) with notes of toffee. Light bodied, sticky texture, average carbonation, and a metallic finish. Average duration, light sweetness, acidity, and bitterness.

12 oz bottle. Clear dark mahogany color with bubbly khaki head. Heavy molasses nose that competes for aromatic supremecy with the strong raisin smell. Flavor is roasty and chocolatey with a delicate sweetness. Medium bodied with a flat finish.

First rate 10/07/02: Deep ruby red color, the head negligible, lace elemental. Nose is malt, carmel hints, somewhat sweet. Front is sweet, the top flimsy, finish is acetose, dry, triflingly hopped, and a low-rate beer, hardly worth putting in a bottle. Does not rank on my current 1000 beer master list.

Bottle: Roast and nutty aroma. Dark transparent reddish brown with a decent off white head with good retention. Flavor is almost all roasty nuttiness with a little sweetness in the background. Roasty stale hopp finish with something in the finish that I can´t pinpoint. It´s not pleasant though.

Somehow, this got packaged with a neckband that has the description of their White ale - wow - you’d be really confused if you read that description and tasted this brew!!!! Reddish-brown and quite clear bodied, short tan head, very little lacing. Aroma is light, with some caramel. Average malty taste with a lingering Nutella nutty finish. This seems to be a mass-market style brewery - this beer should compete well against Newcastle. Found this at Chip’s - Mile post 6 on OBX., 2005
