PorterPounder (2753), Tallahassee, Florida, USA Apr 24, 2008 Florence, South Carolina, 12 oz bottle - Harris Teeter Grocery store. Murky dark golden pour, tight white head. Bit of a tired aroma, hint of lemon in there to bring it a hint of life. Flavor has a touch of lemon, some malty toasted cereal notes and a touch of butter. Slightly dry mouthfeel. Not exactly memorable.
nearbeer (1076), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA Jul 1, 2008 12 oz, bb 2107FX. Orange-gold with a large head that dissipates quickly to a lasting spit. Aroma is orange-lemon and honey. Flavor is orange-lemon, honey, some grain, and a tart citrus and herb note on the finish. A tad larger-than-light body is slightly tingly, and crisply dry on the finish. Looks like I just bought last summer’s batch, so not a very good example of a Helles, but it’s turned into a flavorful lager with some Belgian yeast-like notes. cale422 (25), Timmonsville, South Carolina, USA Jun 2, 2008 Very light and super clear light straw color. Extreme light body and a good summer thirst quencher. j_b (715), Rochester, New York, USA May 31, 2008 Didn’t detect much aroma, malt. Appearance is not noteworthy palate is nutty, very malty, with hops coming in. Really tasty! RichJ7 (859), Cullman, Alabama, USA May 8, 2008 Cloudy gold with a huge, monstrous rocky white head. Malty, slightly sour aroma with a touch of piney hops. Flavor is bittersweet and malty with a rather large dose of hops for a lager. A little on the sour side ... not an easy drink. Meh. obguthr (707), Poquoson, Virginia, USA Apr 26, 2008 Piney aroma, but more woody. Hazy golden with a few floaties and no head. Despite the label’s purity law claim, I taste mainly corn. Clover honey sets it off. Respectable helles.
