The aroma is very spicy with notes of anise and corriander as well as notes of oranges. The flavor is also very spicy again anise and coriander are the strongest on a very sweet back ground with strong notes of caramel, leading to a dry spicy finish. Thanks David, Rastacouere, for bringing this to Denmark. Papsoe (15093), Frederiksberg, Denmark

Very spicy aroma - anise I believe. Fairly full-bodied with lots of roasted malt, sweetish licorice notes and other spices - camomile? Very subdued bitterness. Pleasant. 090507 yespr (12313), Copenhagen O, Denmark

| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Apr 4, 2009 Dark brown, somewhat cloudy and with s a low head. The aroma is somewhat similar to salmiakki with a herbal (thyme?) accent. Really fun nose. Big, chewy, liquoricey double. Very complex. Nice body. One of the best doubles I’ve had. bu11zeye (5584), Frisco, Texas, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jun 9, 2007 (Bottle) Pours a mahogany body with a large beige head. Aroma of plum, coriander, orange, ginger, and some other herbs. Flavor of licorice, dark fruit, toasted malt, grape candy, cinnamon, and other spices. Rastacouere (5560), Montréal, Quebec, Canada
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jun 4, 2006 Initially light beige head has difficulty to stay on place and leaves a hazy dark brown-mahogany colored body. Pleasant mouthfeel has a certain airy character from the small and compact bubbles, yet keeps a good roundness and creaminess from the excellent malt extraction. In terms of flavors, it takes some time and warming up to develop fully, but once that is done, it is an explosion of anise that is quickly joined by prunes, figs and cherries/blackberries though it has nowhere near the fruit concentration I expected, namely thick flavors of dates and grapes. It remains all through surprisingly dry, perhaps it did attenuate fast after the bottling. Vague hints of powdery chocolate support this relatively low profile sweetness. Seems to still be hiding a bit of its potential and complexity. hopscotch (5507), Vero Beach, Florida, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jun 10, 2008 Bottle… Cloudy, dark, almost impenetrable, brown ale (nice copper hue when held up to the sun) with a huge, frothy, beige head. Incredible retention. Yeasty nose with touches of licorice and mint. Full-bodied, but a touch thin, with fizzy carbonation. Sweet and a smidge on the hot side. Otherwise, dark fruits, licorice, molasses and winter spice. Moderately bitter, lightly sweet, mildly acidic, licorice finish. Kudos to glouglouburp for floating this one my way!
