A nice amber lager with a nice persistant creamy white head. A pleasant nutty maple malt aroma. In mouth, a very nutty crisp malt with sustained sweet caramel, cereals, some metallic notes. A very grainy cereal Vienna. Medium bodied. On tap at Brouhaha, May 2008.

In short: A heavily caramelized lager. Nothing standing out here. Decent.
How: Tap at Vices & Versa
The look: Clear golden copper body with a large but quickly diminishing white head.
In long: Chewy body full of juicy caramel upfront. Light fruity notes of apple juice and some citrus fruits. Overall impression of taking a bite from a fresh crust-less white bread with liquid caramel while taking a sip from a carbonated apple juice. As the beer warmed up a biscuit flavour started to come out. Again that oily/boiled white eggs that I’m the only to get from lagers. Dry leafy hops, medium length finish mixing dry grass and caramel. This is quite few steps down from their excellent blonde lager I had a few months ago. It also has nothing to do with the amber lagers I was drinking in Czech Republic. Yep, this is quite far from a fresh Czech Republic amber lager. About 4000 miles far to be more precise.

Objectively speaking: Approachable bready/toasty lager which did not quite charm me as much as the blonde.
I like: Absolutely clean, fresh and bright. Highly drinkable, light-bodied.
I dislike: Feeble leafy/tea reminiscent hops fail to captivate. Not very crisp, it does not pull you into a second pint.

My Bottom Line:
Toasted caramel maltiness and earthy hops provide balance and drinkability in this otherwise unmemorable Vienna.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A sheet of foam covers the clear amber.
-The flavor profile is clean and seems to cater to neophyte crowds.
-The finish is decently bitter, yet should not scare away newbies to craft beer.

On tap at Vices et Versa.
