11026 (1886), USA Feb 28, 2007 Split bottle. Still mead, burgundy colored and quite clear. A bit of purplish sediment in bottle. Aroma is pleasing and soft. Light honey, smells like Marionberry. Light bodied and soft feeling, slightly coating. Moderately sweet, certainly not cloying. Nice berry flavor with a modest honey sweetness that balances the somewhat tart berry character. Quite pleasant. austinpowers (2827), New York, New York, USA May 1, 2006 Wasn’t Marion Berry the former mayor of Washington, D.C. who caught doing drugs on videotape? What an unfortunate name for a mead. ha ha.
A little bit bubbly-feeling on the tongue, though it’s flat. Light and fruity, with a touch of tartness. Moderately thick, though it’s a bit cough syrupy-ish. Not unlike Robutissin Cherry. Seriously. But in a pleasant way. I think I prefer Long Island Meadery and Chaucer’s Mead more. This fruit stuff bums me out because it lacks the honey flavor that I like in meads. This Marioberry stuff is more like a syrupy wine cooler. No offense.
