JoeMcPhee (3628), Jackson Heights, New York, USA May 10, 2008 Cask at Barcade. Pale orange-gold beer with a creamy white head. Aroma is fairly sweet and honeyish... chewy with light orange peel and a sticky/underattenuated character. Sort of sweet mead-like. There is just the barest kiss of vanilla and oaky flavour along with a slight caramel and toffee sweetness. I’d say that it is significantly improved by the time in the barrel, but not to the point of being good... you can’t make a silk purse out of a pigs ear.
Rciesla (712), Brick City, New Jersey, USA Jun 2, 2008 Cask. Orange body with a thin head. Aroma is sweet and boozy. Some vanilla and sweet malt all over this one. I wasn’t a big fan of this BW. TeamTrappist (121), jericho, New York, USA May 30, 2008 Tap at Waterfront NYC. Poured a mahogany . Strong alcohol nose.Flavor of sweet candy. Light finish. Maverick34 (425), New York, USA May 24, 2008 Cask at Waterfront/Manhattan. A very liquoury aroma, mild head, kind of woody. Sweet. PilsnerPeter (1322), Flushing, New York, USA May 13, 2008 Tap at Barcade: Nice glowing amber pour with a dense off-white ring for head. Sweet boozy aroma with apparent honey, vanilla and very mild oak. Slick body, with mild buttery notes in the flavor. Lots of vanilla sweetness comes through, giving it a rum-like character, only letting a touch of the oak peek it’s head through. Too sweet in my opinion.
