Tap at Bling Tiger, vintage 2005. Aroma of roast, spicy smoked meats (too much), liquorice, bitter chocolate, alcohol. Flavor alcohol-forward with sweet dark malt, sweet chocolate, and restrained roast. Mouthfeel feels a bit thinned out by the alcohol. Not stellar.

On tap at Blind Tiger, 2005 vintage. Pours black with a pretty 1/2 inch thick tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, Flavor of roasted malt, vanilla, oak, bitter chocolate. Sharp alcohol finish, also some apple skins in the finish. Nice rich malt. Delicate mouthfeel, not heavy at all. Good, complex beer.

GABF 2007. A pitch black beer with a bubbly brown head. The aroma is sweet with a slight acidic note from the roasted malt, as well as notes of chocolate and coffee. The flavor is sweet with strong notes of dark milk chocolate as well as a bitter hoppy note. The alcohol burns slightly in the mouth before a dry bitter chocolaty finish sets in.

Draft at Barcade. Pours a black body with a tan head. Aroma is chocolate malt, strong coffee overtones, and some etoh. Flaovr is creamy thick but has a sharp roastiness in the finish. Decent.

Thick, dark, sweet and chocolatey, but avoids the soy-sauce trap. Poured at Blind Tiger in a tulip glass, a perfect balance of craft and drinkability. Complex enough to sip and not too mealy to guzzle.
