Commercial Description:
Black Star is CBC’s version of an Irish-style dry stout. Our nitrogen injected stout has a rich roasted malt flavor and is dark in color. Black Star is lightly hopped so that it coincides with the gentle bitterness created by the roasted barley. The finish is smooth, silky and creamy.

Enjoyed at the 4 Queens Brewpub. Nitrogen infused beer which diminishes both nose and flavor. This beer pours much like an AB Bare Knuckle and the way it separates foam from body is a delight to behold. Coffee dominated flavor with lesser amounts of chocolate. Smooth creamy feel. Flavor is, again, coffee and then chocolate. Some nice background hops. A nice beer to drink and typical of nitro infused ones.

pours reddish blackish brown with a lasting tan ring and sporadic lace spots. faint aroma of smoke, toasted grain, scalded cream and cocoa. there is something in the flavor which tastes a whole lot like marshmallows... that gets mixed with vanilla, molasses without the sweetness, roast, tar, a touch of smoke and yeast with a slightly astringent finish. medium body, thin nitro feel, smooth and not too bad. 5/3.5/6/3/12/2.95

Sample at the brewpub. This beer is a brownish black color with a wispy light brown head that dissipates quickly. Nil lacing to be found. The aroma is lightly roasty with touches of coffee and chocolate. Medium, smooth body with mild breakfast blend coffee flavor plus some malt and chocolate. The finish is soft and mildly roasty, with a bit of coffee and hops lingering. Just average overall.

Black brownish color - looks thick and somewhat appealing. Roasted malt aroma - but very subtle. Taste is so bland and watery. Texture is thin and patheitc - I am disappointed. I can’t see how this is labeled as a stout.
