Commercial Description:
Black Star is CBC’s version of an Irish-style dry stout. Our nitrogen injected stout has a rich roasted malt flavor and is dark in color. Black Star is lightly hopped so that it coincides with the gentle bitterness created by the roasted barley. The finish is smooth, silky and creamy.

On tap @ Chicago poured a clear dark brownish black with a small lasting brown head. Aromas of roasted malt, coffee, cocoa, hint of vanilla and light licorice. Palate was medium bodied and smooth. Flavors of coffee, bitter chocolate and smoke with a smooth dry bitter finish.

Pour is dark dark brown with a thin tan head...smell is roasty and sweet...thin and watery, with a slight gross bitterness...

Very stouty aroma, first of the Chicago beers in my sampler that had much aroma at all. Not a heavy stout but a good one. A little dry but has just enough sweetness. A nice blend.

Pours pitch black in color. Slightly malty roasted aroma. Creamy mouthfeel. Flavor is mostly malty. Good coffee characteristics. Nice bitter finish.

A decent stout here, though at least to my taste not much more flavor than a regular guinness. Still cheaper than a Guinness if you’re at this bar though, and definitely worth a try.

Had this at Four Queens Casino. This was a "special beer" for the cigar bar. Frothy off-white head, creamy brown color and good lacing. Average roasted malt flavor, coffee undertone, light alcohol and charcoal taste. Light bodied stout, with creamy texture, lively carbonation, and chalky finish. Slight bitterness. Definitely a good beer to enjoy while watching everyone play slots at the Four Queens on Fremont Street.

Black with mahogany highlights; creamy tan head. Chewy and soft with a nitro-induced lightness. Aromas still made it through nicely, though. Fresh roasted flavors, tasty chocolate and some bitter coffee. Surprisingly tasty stout, and fairly easy to drink.
