Commercial Description:
Black Star is CBC’s version of an Irish-style dry stout. Our nitrogen injected stout has a rich roasted malt flavor and is dark in color. Black Star is lightly hopped so that it coincides with the gentle bitterness created by the roasted barley. The finish is smooth, silky and creamy.

I'm not a fan of stout, but this stuff is good. Along with Guiness only in Ireland, this is the only stout I'd drink. The classical stout appearance with a thick chocolately head. Milky and silky and outstandingly smooth. Smoky malt character. Stellar.

Well, due to the fact that I’m a sucker for stouts, I just had to try this one when I saw it on the menu. The good news is that I was very impressed. Wonderful aroma accompanied by a elegant roasted overtones, with hints of carmel and chocolate. Very impressed, definitely a do again.

Very stouty aroma, first of the Chicago beers in my sampler that had much aroma at all. Not a heavy stout but a good one. A little dry but has just enough sweetness. A nice blend.

Sweet and roasty aroma. Thick tan head with great lacing that coats the glass. Dry taste with a roasty finish. Thin in body and finish but it has a nice sily mouthfeel. Not bad at all.

Black with mahogany highlights; creamy tan head. Chewy and soft with a nitro-induced lightness. Aromas still made it through nicely, though. Fresh roasted flavors, tasty chocolate and some bitter coffee. Surprisingly tasty stout, and fairly easy to drink.

Pours pitch black in color. Slightly malty roasted aroma. Creamy mouthfeel. Flavor is mostly malty. Good coffee characteristics. Nice bitter finish.

On tap at the brewpub in Vegas. Thick, black tar colored pour with a thick viscous mocha colored head with excellent lacing. Has a slightly winey aroma with a wee bit of dirt. Thick, creamy mouthful, coats your mouth. Strong coffee notes in the flavor, some trailing chocolate, decent bitterness. Very good brewpub stout. Best of my session here at Chicago.

A pretty standard stout by most accounts: pretty roasty, some coffee, light chocolate, and a touch of smoke. Somewhat dry, medium bodied. Pretty tasty, I should enjoy what I have left out of my growler.
