Commercial Description:
The history of India pale ales date back to the 18th century when British troops occupied India. Beer was made in England and sent to the stationed troops. Pale ales were popular beers at the time and had to endure a six month journey to the distant country. Spoilage was common and one way to prevent the loss of beer was to add more hops to the existing recipe, which are an excellent natural preservative. The addition of more hops made pale ales stronger with a higher alcohol content. Basically, India Pale Ales are stronger over hopped versions of it's cousin, the Pale Ale. The style has grown very popular in this country over the years and can be found all around. Our IPA is more aggressive than most with a high hop aroma. The taste is a true hop bomb. The IPA appears somewhat cloudy because it is unfiltered, leaving every bit of flavor in the glass.

This is my favorite beer at the Chicago Brewing Company at the Four Queens. It’s floral and fruity with plenty of hops added after the boil. The mouth feel is a little light for me and that is it’s weakest point. I’m guessing that the hops are the C variety (Cascade among others.) This is a light refreshing IPA and well worth the coin.

Pours a slightly hazy dark golden with a tiny buubled white head and nice lacing. Aroma is lightly sweet caramel malt, big pine and citrus. Flavor is light caramel malt flavor and a nice complement of NW American hops. Somewhat unbalanced, if I had to put my finger on it I would say that very high alpha acid hops were used in the late kettle additions (Warrior or Columbus).

(Sampler @ 4 Queens, Las Vegas, NV): Pours a pale yellow-amberish color. Some white head, lasting. Very little aroma, maybe a little IPAish, bitter. Good bitter taste. A little too bitter. Some grapefruit, piney.

From a growler. Pours a semi-cloudy amber with a bubbly white head. Smells of hops, apricots, and fresh cut grass (in a good way). Taste is hops and more hops. I like it.

Slight hoppy apricot smell. Pours a watery thin yellow color. Very light in weight and flavor. Highly metallic in taste and in finish. Not enjoyable to drink - feels like I am licking a stainless steel appliance.

Pours a generic gold, clear color with mostly floral sweet hop aroma. Very nice nose actually. Taste is hoppy, fairly bitter, grapefruity and floral. Still suffers like many of their beers from a lack of body and slightly thin flavor. Not deserving on the 91st %, but not terrible.

20 oct 07, @ 4 Queens. Sample Tray. Clear, golden colored. White head. Smells of citrus and fresh cut grass. N. Brewer, Chinook? Sharp, heavy hop bitterness. Too bitter. The Brewer may have dumped too many Alphas into this. All sharp, no body. Light bodied overall. Tastes like a dirty, sweaty, football jockstrap.

Draft - into growler at the brewpub at the 4 Queens Casino. Pour is orange yellow with a normal off white head. Aroma of orange peel, citrus and hops. Taste is a whole bunch of bitter orange peel hops, with a decent enough malt backbone. This beer was a 64oz. growler for $10 - that included the growler, refill was $7. Can’t complain.
