Commercial Description:
The history of India pale ales date back to the 18th century when British troops occupied India. Beer was made in England and sent to the stationed troops. Pale ales were popular beers at the time and had to endure a six month journey to the distant country. Spoilage was common and one way to prevent the loss of beer was to add more hops to the existing recipe, which are an excellent natural preservative. The addition of more hops made pale ales stronger with a higher alcohol content. Basically, India Pale Ales are stronger over hopped versions of it's cousin, the Pale Ale. The style has grown very popular in this country over the years and can be found all around. Our IPA is more aggressive than most with a high hop aroma. The taste is a true hop bomb. The IPA appears somewhat cloudy because it is unfiltered, leaving every bit of flavor in the glass.

Growler @ Kp’s Cellar. Slightly hazed amber with a medium off-white head. Moderate hop aroma with citrus and lemon flesh. Sweet sugar. Flavor of sweet lemon flesh and bitter lemon rind. Long bitterness on the finish. Dry with a medium body. My favorite out of the IPas on the KP growler night.

KP brought back a growler of this for his growler tasting. This used to be the Big IPA, but the name recently changed. Amber, almost copper. The hops are reserved in the aroma. Malty. The hops come out more in the flavor, still malty. A bit sweet. Good body. This is more balanced than the Barley’s Centennial, but the Centennial was more interesting in the aroma. Combine the hop aroma and flavor from the Centennial with the maltiness of this beer and you’ve got a great IPA.

Draft - Poured an orangish-amber in color with a medium whitish head. Aroma was of citrus-piney hops with not much malt mixed in. Flavor was plenty hoppy (though not too) with, again, not much malt to balance it out. Clean and medium bitter finish. This is a good beer, but not outstanding as an IPA. Quite drinkable...

had this at the barleys beer festival 2005: orange tan haze, slight sudsy head. nice nose of cascade. in the mouth you got some typical citrus, light grapefruit, cascade mountain bitterness. not over the top, quite easy to drink and refreshing. unsure of the abv on this one. 5-6%?

Pours a light orange color. Light hoppy aroma. A little bit of a malty sweetness. Not terribly bitter. Somewhat malty with a fairly bitter finish.

Copper color, beige head. Full on hop aroma, very pleasant. Quite hoppy, decent balance. Medium bodied, bitter finish. Tasty, could use a touch more body though.

Nice hoppy aroma. Bright orange in color, nice head. Citrusy hop flavor predominates, but there’s a pretty decent malt flavor backing it up. A very enjoyable American IPA. Followup: Think the brewer’s hopped it up a bit recently, this stuff is really tasting nice of late.
