Commercial Description:
The history of India pale ales date back to the 18th century when British troops occupied India. Beer was made in England and sent to the stationed troops. Pale ales were popular beers at the time and had to endure a six month journey to the distant country. Spoilage was common and one way to prevent the loss of beer was to add more hops to the existing recipe, which are an excellent natural preservative. The addition of more hops made pale ales stronger with a higher alcohol content. Basically, India Pale Ales are stronger over hopped versions of it's cousin, the Pale Ale. The style has grown very popular in this country over the years and can be found all around. Our IPA is more aggressive than most with a high hop aroma. The taste is a true hop bomb. The IPA appears somewhat cloudy because it is unfiltered, leaving every bit of flavor in the glass.

Kyle has now replaced his old pale ale with an IPA standard on tap. They call this the "Big IPA," and it’s better than the IPA I remembered originally rating in Jan 04, although I’m not 100% sure that it’s a new recepe. This struck me as a more American IPA ... big and fruity, orange-red and nice and hoppy, but it a fruity way.

Love the smell though it doesn’t last long. This beer maintains the head better than almost any I’ve ever seen, including Belgians. Some pretty good hops in the flavor, but a little too much malt. A like it a lot, just don’t love it. A very bitter finish.

Nice hoppy aroma. Bright orange in color, nice head. Citrusy hop flavor predominates, but there’s a pretty decent malt flavor backing it up. A very enjoyable American IPA. Followup: Think the brewer’s hopped it up a bit recently, this stuff is really tasting nice of late.

Sampled at the NABA 06 Fest: Excellent head and lacing. I never got a chance to see the color as the head never dispersed and these opaque white plastic tasting cups are certainly subpar. Nose is super hoppy, citrusy and fruity. Flavor is pleasant, nice dry hopped character. Full body, has that sweet candy cane like balance to complement the nice hop resins and oils floating on top of the beer.

22 oz. draft at the 4 Queens. Very tasty with good long finish. Probably would have enjoyed the taste even more had I not been smoking cigars in the casino all day. Heck of a deal too at $4.00 for 22 oz. mug

Growler @ Kp’s Cellar. Slightly hazed amber with a medium off-white head. Moderate hop aroma with citrus and lemon flesh. Sweet sugar. Flavor of sweet lemon flesh and bitter lemon rind. Long bitterness on the finish. Dry with a medium body. My favorite out of the IPas on the KP growler night.

A great little IPA, with a very evident citrus hop nose, and a very sweet candi sugar maltiness. Velvety rich mouthfeel, with alot of texture and a really nice balance of flavors. Finshes clean and bitter

Mountain Brewers Beer Fest 2006. Lack of appearance judging reflects opaque plastic sampling cup. Great dry hopping in this IPA. Heavy pine and grapefruit from the hops balances grains that are a bit on the straw side.
