Apr 28, 2006 12-ounce bottle. Tan head for a few seconds. Thick brownish-black/ebony body. Aggressively, almost cloyingly sweet and even a little sticky--like a good 90 shilling should be, I guess. Nice roast and chocolate underpinnings behind the sugar, but this would be a tough one to stick with through a whole pitcher, even by wee heavy standards. There’s a lot of sugar here.

Apr 17, 2006 on draft four queens: poured dark brown with a tan head that eroded quickly. nose of roasted choc malt. flavors are thin on the palate of choc, coffee, roasted malt sweetness. the bartender told me was in the 8% range, which was surprising no alcohol evidence. average.

Dark brown color. Light aroma of caramel. Medium sweet body, mature, a lot of caramel, similar to Traquair House Ale. Quite good.
