Commercial Description:
CBC’s medal winning old town brown is a German-style brown ale. This beer has a clean well rounded dark malt character which creates a mild chocolate aroma and flavor. Colder fermentation temperatures and long cellaring time makes our brown a truly smooth all round brew.

On tap @ Chicago poured a clear brown with a lasting amber head. Aromas of toasted malt, light cocoa and a hint of nuts. Palate was light to medium bodied and smooth. Flavors of sweet malt, light cocoa and a hiunt of nuts with a smooth finish.

Pour is clearish brown with a thin tan head...smell is sweet and grainy and sort of artificial, somehow...sweet thin texture and flavor...

Nutty brown ale aroma is quite nice. Got some hops, not sweet. Pretty nice beer, one I could drink again.

Bottled. Dark amber color. Nothing wrong with it all, but nothing special either. Maybe my assessment would jump up a bit if I drank it refrigerator-cold on a sunny summer day rather than drinking it basement-cool on a rainy spring day?

Draught at the brewpub
Brown color. Light caramel aroma. Medium dry taste, caramel and nothing else. Boring.

Sampler at the Four Queens Casino Brewpub - Poured a light brown in color with a light head and a small amount of carbonation. Aroma was a mix of mild roasted malt and spicy hops. Flavor mimicked the aroma fairly well. Not strongly flavored, but was slightly sour in the finish. Very drinkable.

(draft) I’ve rated this a little higher than most brown ales because there was something special about it. I don’t know what, though. There was a slightly spicy aroma and flavor. Whatever it was, it was good.
