Commercial Description:
Chimay Bleu is principally distinguished by its character of a strong beer. This is a beer whose fragrance of fresh yeast with a light, flowery rosy touch is especially pleasant. Its flavour, noticed when tasting it, only accentuates the pleasant sensations perceived in the aroma , while revealing a light but pleasant touch of roasted malt. This top fermented Trappist beer, refermented in the bottle, is not pasteurised.

bottle pours a murky brown with tan head. the smell is sugary and dried fruit. Taste is amazing crisp and taste how it smells. The alcohol isn’t tasted and it’s a very refreshing beer. another great trappist beer.

cellared for 1 1/2 years. nose is raisins, almost smells a bit grainy. flavor is more raisins and sizzling hops, dark yet ultra refreshing. touch of near sweetness amongst the madness. so similar to many ABTs yet a unique diamond in the end.

House of brews: Belgian Strong indeed! The nose is complex: sugars, light malts, florals/ lavendar? Taste reveals more sugars in dark fruits, must be yeasts/ malts, still more florals. You can feel the alcohol however not overpowering at all.

33cl bottle poured into a Chimay Trappist glass. Cloudy brown with one finger tan head. Faint aroma of sweet malt. Taste is sweet and malty with a strong finish of alcohol. Quite tasty and surprisingly drinkable for 9% abv.

Bottle. Pours a nice murky brown with a medium tan head. Subtle floral and yeasty aromas. Taste of brown sugar, figs, and raisins. Full body with a creamy texture.

Little dry dark brown, almost black, beer. Direct taste is not the best but after-taste is very good. Good beer from time to time.

Deep, dark, smooth. Looks great in a Chimay chalice. Tastes great, no notice of alcohol whatsoever. My only complaint is that it could be more complex, but it’s highly drinkable, and eminently enjoyable.
