Commercial Description:
Chimay Bleu is principally distinguished by its character of a strong beer. This is a beer whose fragrance of fresh yeast with a light, flowery rosy touch is especially pleasant. Its flavour, noticed when tasting it, only accentuates the pleasant sensations perceived in the aroma , while revealing a light but pleasant touch of roasted malt. This top fermented Trappist beer, refermented in the bottle, is not pasteurised.

330ml bottle. Dark, cloudy mahogany with varying shades and bubbly white head. There’s a sweet vinous nose with cloves and a dab of alcohol. The dry flavor is sultanas, cloves and fruity hints. A little clumsy and over rated from this sample.

12 oz bottle from US Liquors. Milk chocolate color, thin tan head that dissipates quickly. Aroma and flavor is slightly yeasty, I get a lot of dark fruit in both the aroma and flavor with some sweetness and caramel coming through in the flavor. Finish is sweet and smooth.

Great pear aroma. Perfect color and thick head that lingers and lingers. Great lacing and carbonation. Awesome fruity boldness. Huge mouthfeel. Finish is dry with a strong warmth that starts spreading quickly. Very slight bitterness mouthfeel later. Awesome. My first Belgian Strong Ale but it won’t be my last.
