Poured a copper color with a small off white head. The color was not was I was used to seeing in a dubbel, and it didn't include any lacing. Aroma of citrus, with some dark fruits as well. Taste was filled with grapes, plums, and some citrus and spice as well. Overall, I was expecting alittle more out of this after the bleu being my first Chimay, and I loved that.

Pours a clear red colour with a normal size head.
Aroma is rich in fruit, mals, hops and east, very well balanced.
Taste is also greatly balanced, some flavour as smells.
Good Dubbel.

Sep 2, 2008 very nice brew, copper colour, carbonation evident but not disruptive of flavour. A lot of malty caramel notes with mild fruitiness in the flavour. Very nice easy drinking double.

Aug 30, 2008 Another great chimay brew. A dark reddish brown but easy drinking belgian. Not near as much of the wine like tastes of the blue or the tripel, but a very good dubbel.

Aug 29, 2008 Bottle sampled at Dayton Ale Fest. Dark brown color with a fairly thick head. Not much lacing. Extremely drinkable Belgian brew but not the most complex. It’s pretty hard to compare this one to the Chimay Blue. Still, has nice sweet flavors of raisins and other fruit with slight yeasty aromas and flavors as well. Pretty dry finish.
