beelsebob (17), Antwerpen, Belgium Jun 17, 2009 This beer is as near to perfect as you can get for me. It looks beautiful, it has a lovely, small head that sticks around the whole time. It drinks awesomely. puboflyons (589), New Hampshire, USA Jun 16, 2009 From the 1 pt. 9.4 fl. oz. corked bottle marked L08-751. The pour is a cloudy copper-amber with a good topping of foamy off-white head and plenty of lacing. The aroma is a breathtaking yeasty, hoppy and bready scent that reminds me I am drinking an authentic Belgian Abbey Ale. The mouthfeel is a bolder texture and creamy on the tongue. The taste is just tart enough to notice but not enough to pucker up. A topnotch brew. Davros (202), Australia Jun 16, 2009 Hazy light copper with a large head showing some persistence and great lacing.
Aroma is quite enticing, doughy yeast, white wine, light fruits (apple, pear, white grapes?) and just a hint of spicy phenols and sharp lemon.
Flavour doesn’t follow through, more doughy yeast, sweet candi sugar and some spicy alcohol. Otherwise lacking in complexity. Nondescript bitterness makes for a finish not unlike most macro pale lagers.
Too much carbonation (not a big deal, just let it sit for a while). Also there’s some slight astringency present. cfrancis (293), Gloucester, Ontario, Canada Jun 12, 2009 Hazy yellow colour with some sediment. Hop nose. Taste is a full palate of hop and yeast. A little bitterness in the aftertaste. Overall one of the better beers I’ve ever had. daleharshman (181), San Diego, California, USA Jun 11, 2009 330mL bottle from BevMo (Mission Valley, San Diego). Pours a murky amber / burnt orange color with a thick off-white head. The sweet aroma includes hoppy citrus (lemon mainly), earthy/musty malt, and yeast. Tastes a little malty, but the hop bitterness dominates and has a bit of metallic harshness. Tends toward being more bitter and less sweet than many of the other tripels. Also seems more dry than the other tripels. It’s drinkable, but something’s off here. Une bonne bière pour accompagner un repas. dimenhetfield (157), , Florida, USA Jun 6, 2009 Nice golden color with some off white golden streaks. The aroma has hints of honey and spice. Not too overpowering, which makes for a very drinkable beer. Would highly recommend. Cheers to this one. matthasson (59), Pennsylvania, USA Jun 5, 2009 Appears hazy reddish orange with a thick rich head. Smells yeasty with hints of orange and some floral aromas. There is a sharp bite added with mixed spicy bitterness. The taste slowly mellows out, with a smooth clean finish. This is easily drinkable, in fact I drank it way to quickly without realizing it. It achieves both refreshment and complexity. There is just the right amount of alcohol presence, not overpowering, but you know its there
