gary07734 (391), Tyne & Wear, England Aug 24, 2008 Pale copper pour, big foamy head, smell is yeasty, some hops and slightly sulphurus. Taste is hoppy, dry, bitter and some alcohol, fairly average, reminds me a bit of Duvel, not in the same league as other trappist tripels. CafeeOndineke (28), Aalst, Belgium Aug 23, 2008 bottle 33cl and tap(1 of the 2 trappists on tap only!),fine creamy head, the tapversion is lighter golden colored. I prefere the tapversion. More hoppy and bitter than the bottle version. a hint of muscat. Deliciously dangerous! :-) rugbydude05 (280), Kew Gardens, New York, USA Aug 20, 2008 Pours a mildly hazy golden color, nice pleasant malty aroma that was kind of doughy. Taste was rather spicy with a bitter aftertaste. Nice smooth palate, overall not a bad option. MitchWayne (264), Kokkola, Finland Aug 20, 2008 Nicely spicy aroma and a very interesting mouthfeel, reminds a bit of orval despite not being as good. The foamy head looks gorgeous. This is not one of my favorites but still a very interesting beer with the yeast and hops bringing a lot of originality to this brew. fidel (886), Livermore, California, USA Aug 18, 2008 Hazy golden yellow, smooth, citrus, spice, yeast, banana, slight hops, with a dry finish. texasbartender (160), Sugarland, Texas, USA Aug 17, 2008 yummy. The beer pours a hazy goldn yellow with a thick head and a great nose. i get orange and yeast and spice off the nose. the mouth feel is very lively with a great taste of orange yeast banana and spice. Chrism86 (273), Melbourne, Australia Aug 16, 2008 Delivers a hazy golden orange body with a brilliant three fingers of foam that is extremely compact (very meringue-like) Nose is dominated by orange and spice with some white muscat notes also prevailing. Palate is medium bodied but seems quite full, almost creamy. Banana and orange fruit notes are dominant with substantial spice, namely anise. There is also a hint of white pepper present that compliments the spice in adding to a slightly dry, earthy finish. elihapa (1033), Honolulu, California, USA Aug 15, 2008 Small bottle. Pours a hazy orange-yellow with a sizable white head. Aroma was filled with lemon, wheat, and sour notes. Palate features nice sharp carbonation and a medium body. Flavor is an combination of wheat, spice, hops, and citrus. Flavor also features more of that classic Belgian “banana” flavor. Overall, this is a better balanced and interesting brew than Chimay’s Red bottle Belgian. Enjoyable.
