Commercial Description:
Chimay Blanche (White), with its typical golden colour, its slightly hazy appearance and its fine head is especially characterised by its aroma which results from an agreeable combination of fresh hops and yeast. The beer's flavour, as sensed in the mouth, comes from the smell of hops: above all it is the fruity notes of muscat and raisins that give this beer a particularly attractive aroma. The aroma complements the touch of bitterness. There is no acidity, but an after-bitterness which melts in the mouth. This top fermented Trappist beer, refermented in the bottle, is not pasteurised.
Ingredients: Water, malted barley, wheat starch, sugar, hop extract and yeast. See Protz and John White

Sept 2007. Bottle. Lightly hazy yellow body with a huge long lasting fluffy white head. Sweet doughy aroma, lightly malty, mild yeast. Simple flavour is yeasty, lightly alcoholic and fairly sweet up front with a dry finish. Sweet doughy-bready malt is quickly dried out by a finish that is lightly alcoholic, and mildly bitter and creates a pleasant balance. Not the most complex tripel you can find, but has sufficient richness to make it a pleasantly drinkable example. Smooth medium palate (3+). Nice. 7/4/7/4/15 - 3.7 <P>Jan 2001 - Disappointing. Nice tripel, very smooth mouthfeel, but I enjoyed similar offerings from Unbroue more. Don De Dieu comes to mind... 6/4/6/5/15 - 3.6

Bottle. Pours a light orange amber body with a big fluffy head. The least favorite chimay in my opinion. Aroma is dry and earthy and has a good pepper yeasty backbone. Flavor is that. A solid beer thats an easy choice. I enjoyed it slightly less on draft.

First impression wow! It almost foamed out of the glass even though it was cold. 1/3 beer 2/3 foam! It was very lively and carbonated. Wow, it even has a good head in the bottle after I poured it! There were a lot of fine bubbles that continuously rose up the side of the glass. Very long lasting head continuously reinforced by the carbonation. This brew has a very light amber color with some particles floating around in it. It also has a very mild aroma that is hard to notice. It reminded me of nothing in particular. The carbonation rolled off my tongue yet the taste was mostly of that carbonation with a mild fore and after taste. I liked the taste though. This is a beer I could get drunk on. Let’s see if it has the stomach upsetting qualities that some of the other Chimayan ales have had. Time will tell. GF gave it a 4.1 rating. She said she could drink it all night long. That's a pretty good rating from her!

Bottle. Very nice Tripel. Golden creamy/hazy like colour with a light/medium head. Aroma is malty, bread like. Some hops, dry fruit and I can also agree on the Muscat like aroma. Body is kind of medium and texture is thin to creamy with a fizzy and lively feeling. Complex bitterness in the flavour, and a bitter-sweet finish. Great beer!

(0,33l bottle) Very hazy, dark orange color with a creamy and lacy head. Slightly sour and acidic, yeasty, fruity and spicy, reasonably complex, almost "Orvaly" aroma. The flavor is dryish, witbier-peppery-spicy, citrusy and quite hoppy. Nicely balanced, medium-bodied, semi-dry palate, but way too carbonated from a trappist glass. From a Duvel glass (with the "crack" at the bottom), the excess carbon dioxide will quickly evaporate, and the palate is much better balanced! An excellent, quite dry tripel, although it could still be more refreshing.

On tap ... massive head. Golden orange. Yeasty aroma. Cloves? Wheaty grist. Smooth and nice. For a non-fan of Belgian beers, I liked this!

cloudy amber orange with white head. Lively carbonation. Very fresh of fruits and spices - wheat. Again a brilliant trappisten bier!
