Commercial Description:
Chimay Blanche (White), with its typical golden colour, its slightly hazy appearance and its fine head is especially characterised by its aroma which results from an agreeable combination of fresh hops and yeast. The beer's flavour, as sensed in the mouth, comes from the smell of hops: above all it is the fruity notes of muscat and raisins that give this beer a particularly attractive aroma. The aroma complements the touch of bitterness. There is no acidity, but an after-bitterness which melts in the mouth. This top fermented Trappist beer, refermented in the bottle, is not pasteurised.
Ingredients: Water, malted barley, wheat starch, sugar, hop extract and yeast. See Protz and John White

Bottle. Pours a slightly hazy golden-orange, tons of floaties, with a huge lasting foamy white head. Aroma of yeast, lots of fruit, mild spices and a hint of hops. Flavour of yeast and fruit along with some spices and a long alcoholic hoppy finish. Medium bodied. Pretty good but I much prefer the "Red".

Pours a cloudy gold with a large foamy white head. Aromas of malt and wheat with a yeasty nose, some hop. Flavor is yeasty, a bit malty and wheaty. Palate is warm and a tad dry.

On tap at Blue Dog. Poured slightly hazy golden with small thin head. Smells of bananna, citrus, yeast and spice. Flavors of the same with more of the yeast in the flavor. This was actually a pretty standard tripel in my opinion. To me this actually tasted a good bit like Leffe Blonde.

Bottle from Denmark. Full fruity beer, apples, peaches. Fine balance. Very Belgian, very drinkable, a true classic.

Strong Ale Fest '03. Light orange color with smallish head (sample sized). Light hops are preceeded by fruity taste you come to expect from Chimay.

Corked and caged bottle with the corked marked 11/04. Small white fizzy head that quickly dissipated, fine-small sized bubbles, poor lacing, carbonated, and an orange hue. Malty, hoppy, sweet, fruity, spicy aroma. Acidic, malty, tart, fruity, hoppy flavor. Very tingly mouthfeel.

This was a great beer, but not as good as the Chimay Bleu. Spice and fruit aroma abound. Cloudy brown in color. Tastes of apples but seems sort of dry, especially during the aftertaste. Great beer, nonetheless. Highly recommended.

Darker than a normal blonde ale and the head lasts for ever. The aroma and flavour are more akin to an English ale with citric undertones. Thoroughly drinkable, one of the best Belgium ales you will drink.
