Dry palate with just a hint of sweetness. Dusty yeast leads, followed by peppery alcohol. Moderate bitterness. Not bad for the style, and a fairly strong earthy hop character. Well-made and cohesive if somewhat short of scintillating. fiulijn (7420), Como; Lausanne (CH); Malmö (SWE), Italy

Soft aroma of malt, and light biscuits, maybe a bit perfumy. It has a good malt flavor, dry, with a good body strength, with a very good Belgian yeast job. Well bitter. Very good.
2003-01-14, bottle, vintage 1997, 5ys old, 8-5-8-4-16=41 Beautiful amber color, thick head. Very nice aroma, more delicate than Chimay Red; caramel and old hops. Good body structure and good balance; it has aged well, just some oak cask flavor, and a light liquorice hint. Final stronger and more interesting than Chimay Red. | 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | May 30, 2002 Big head atop a golden unfiltered body. Sweet, fruity, peppery aroma. The flavor, however, is, in addition to all these, slightly astringent. Alcohol flavor noticeable, but not unpleasant. DJMonarch (6941), Northwich, Cheshire, England

Hazy orange with long-lasting foamy head. Aroma is hops, citron and yeast. Typical Belgium malt texture. Smooth mouthfeel with nice hoppy finish. I prefer Chimay Blue. (6/3/6/3/13 3.1)

Hazy orange with long-standing lace head. Aroma is malts, hops with citron. A bit Orval-like citric mouthfeel but not so spicey. Balanced, nice. (6/4/7/4/15 3.6)

Orange citric nose. Ok in mouth with good citric orange yeast flavours. Nice finish with good citric acids more orange flavours and good tangy hops. Nice beer with interesting flavours.
Re-rate. OK not so much a re-rate, but I had this on tap at ’tWaagstuk in Antwerp so I guess it may be slightly different. Hazy gold with lasting creamy head. Slightly spicy hoppy yeasty aroma. Creamy in mouth. Hop profile is perfect for my tastes. Even slightly buttery in mouth. One of my real favourites
