Commercial Description:
Chimay Blanche (White), with its typical golden colour, its slightly hazy appearance and its fine head is especially characterised by its aroma which results from an agreeable combination of fresh hops and yeast. The beer's flavour, as sensed in the mouth, comes from the smell of hops: above all it is the fruity notes of muscat and raisins that give this beer a particularly attractive aroma. The aroma complements the touch of bitterness. There is no acidity, but an after-bitterness which melts in the mouth. This top fermented Trappist beer, refermented in the bottle, is not pasteurised.
Ingredients: Water, malted barley, wheat starch, sugar, hop extract and yeast. See Protz and John White

Fruity, bits of orange peel, woody, horse blanket. Kind of weak. Orange amber and hazy with little off-white lacing head. Champagne-like fizziness. Heavy watery body. Astringent. OK sweetness and nutty, bitter after. Peppery and fruity. Some yeast, grass, earthy. Interesting taste and a slightly odd bitterness. Dry. Had it on tap, but maybe not a good one.

A friend gave this one to me because after the red and blue gave me severe headaces I told him that buying the white wouldn’t be worth it. So he bought it for me. Aroma of yeast and sweet fruit. Gold hazy body with decent white head, good lacing. Flavor was more alcohol up front with a touch of sweet bitterness. Bitterness subsided by end which was good for me. Leaves a dry aftertaste. Will need to drink a glass of water now.

Wow, what a great taste from beginning to end. It has a light bite buit is remarkably smooth. Raisin flavoring is noticeable and the alcohol certainly hits. Excellent.

Big fruity nose, citrusy and grapefruit-like. Hazy orange color and a huge spongy head. Yeasty, lemony and spicey. Astringent finish. Medium body. Complex and sophisticated.

Bottle from the LCBO. I’ve had this particular bottle on hand for quite some time - 2 or 3 years, I’d guess - but it still seems to be in nice shape. Pours a slightly hazy sunset golden-amber with a good sized snow white head. Aroma is fruity and slightly yeasty, with some tangy sharpness in the background. Great body and mouthfeel, very nice. Flavour starts fairly sweet, developing some spiciness in the middle, and finishes with notes of yeast and a surprising hit of hops right at the end. Complex enough to be interesting, but balanced enough to be very easy to drink.

A nice pale colour, served in the authentic Chimay goblet. Small amount of a slightly off-white head. Subtle smell, definate yeastyness though. A good example of a nice medium bodied belgian beer, with complex flavours lingering in every corner. I've had it in bottles a few times, but I was completely unaware they sold this in the Keg (from Belgium). Tasted on Tap at MacGregor's in Rochester, New York.

33cL bottle. Pours a hazy, orangish-amber color; firm, textured white head with great retention and lacing; a gorgeous pour. Generous aroma, showing dried fruits, yeast, and belgian sugars. Medium-to-full mouthfeel: plenty of yeast and white pepper at the forefront, backed by a hard-candy maltiness; still maintains a dry character and slight bitterness. Long, candy sugar and yeasty finish.

11.2 oz bottle pours amber with a fair white head that stays pretty well. Good aroma of yeast, raisins, and some spice. Flavor is raisin, caramel, some yeast and slight peppery spice at the finish before the dry finish. Palate is smooth and easy drinking with a fair amount of tickling carbonation. Nice soft mouthfeel.
