Commercial Description:
Chimay Blanche (White), with its typical golden colour, its slightly hazy appearance and its fine head is especially characterised by its aroma which results from an agreeable combination of fresh hops and yeast. The beer's flavour, as sensed in the mouth, comes from the smell of hops: above all it is the fruity notes of muscat and raisins that give this beer a particularly attractive aroma. The aroma complements the touch of bitterness. There is no acidity, but an after-bitterness which melts in the mouth. This top fermented Trappist beer, refermented in the bottle, is not pasteurised.
Ingredients: Water, malted barley, wheat starch, sugar, hop extract and yeast. See Protz and John White

Served in a Chimay chalice. The beer is a hazy gold color that has a white sheen to it. Not much head was in this beer when it was brought to me fresh from the tap. It has a spicy aroma, but does not have any hotness to it. There is a light musty flavor and aroma here, which I find characteristic of many Belgian beers. A light white grape fruitiness rounds out the front and middle of this Trappist ale. There is a bit of hot spiciness in the finish of this beer, sort of a pepper type finish. This is pretty good, and is widely available.

Bottle: Pale Orangey Coloring with Big White Creamy Head. Fruity Aroma with Yeastiness Hovering About. Carries Through to the Palate.. With Light Subtle Spices and a Comfortably Heavy Mouthfeel. Very Good But a Beer You Have to Be in the Mood For.

33cL bottle. Pours a hazy, orangish-amber color; firm, textured white head with great retention and lacing; a gorgeous pour. Generous aroma, showing dried fruits, yeast, and belgian sugars. Medium-to-full mouthfeel: plenty of yeast and white pepper at the forefront, backed by a hard-candy maltiness; still maintains a dry character and slight bitterness. Long, candy sugar and yeasty finish.

Chimay, despite its ’mass’ availability, never ceases to please me with its brews. One would think that such popularity would somehow diminish the quality of the product, but Chimay has not succumbed to such folly. A nice, light citrus scent greets the drinker. A subtle yeast, grapefruit, and lemon shake hands with the imbiber. Great brew.

Grapefruity, orange-y nose. Orange body with a medium head. Also very grapefruity flavor, nice medium bitter aftertaste.

Bottle (33 cl) from Systembolaget Cloudy orange, large, thick and creamy white head. Wonderful aroma full of fruity and slightly roasted malts, earthy, spicy and herbal notes of yeast and hops. Medium bodied and silky smooth. Flavour starts with a wonderful sweet touch followed by a dry and moderately bitter finish. A fantastic tripel.

750mL bottle. Golden color. Aroma of banana, bread, yeast. Flavor is malty, bitterness in the finish. More bitter than most triples. Dry finish.

I was most surprised by the strong peppery flavors - very enjoyable, as was the dryness. Nice golden color with bubbly head and good lacing.
