Commercial Description:
Chimay Blanche (White), with its typical golden colour, its slightly hazy appearance and its fine head is especially characterised by its aroma which results from an agreeable combination of fresh hops and yeast. The beer's flavour, as sensed in the mouth, comes from the smell of hops: above all it is the fruity notes of muscat and raisins that give this beer a particularly attractive aroma. The aroma complements the touch of bitterness. There is no acidity, but an after-bitterness which melts in the mouth. This top fermented Trappist beer, refermented in the bottle, is not pasteurised.
Ingredients: Water, malted barley, wheat starch, sugar, hop extract and yeast. See Protz and John White

Bottle from Wine Warehouse in Charlottesville. Hazy orange pour with a HUGE head and decent head. Good retention and great lacing. I found the aroma to be very odd... fruity but also reminding me strongly of crayons. Malty, fruity taste with strong caramel and touches of grain and plastic.

I was most surprised by the strong peppery flavors - very enjoyable, as was the dryness. Nice golden color with bubbly head and good lacing.

A very nice beer. Golden cloudy appearance with a large head but less sediment than some of its comparables. This one had a sweet base but was kept honest by a noticeable presence of hops, which was rather enjoyable (this coming from a non-hop head). Aroma was sweet, citrusy with a touch of flowers. Mouthfeel was carbonated and moderately heavy, but not thick.

Pours with a norange gold body topped by a thick rocky white head with good retention and a good amount of lace. Flowery, orangey aroma with yeasty and spicy notes and a slight sourness. Slightly sweet yet sour and salt flavor with flowery notes and orange accents. The finish is short, bitter and flowery. Medium bodied, dry and smooth.

Dull, cloudy orange-tan with a large fluffy, creamy, goin’ nowhere head. There are orange peel and coriander notes making this reminiscent of a wit (but probably coming from the yeast). In the flavor there is subdued spiciness and a small, thin bitter aftertaste. Light and airy feel and a bit creamy.

Bottle: Poured a cloudy light brown ale with a huge foamy off-white head with excellent retention. Aroma is mix between Belgian spices and strong malts and floral hops. Taste is quite delicious with again some spices showing up (some peppers?), strong malt with excellent body and all of this covered with floral hops. Less sweet then other tripel such as Westmalle but still very enjoyable overall.
