| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Dec 3, 2007 Bottle; pours a murky, dark gold with a lage white head. Aroma of citrus, sugar, yeast and grain. Solid, albeit not spectacular for the style. Flavor was as expected; rich in malt, yeast and citrus. Spicy and fruity notes were somewhat mellow. Mouthfeel was fine. My march towards rating the top 50 accessible continues...now I just have to get the "easily" accessible Westy 12. Nekronos (2265), Xalapa, Mexico

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jul 10, 2008 7/08/2008: Chimay Triple does not have the typical thin, sharp, and overly strong characteristics that I have come to know many Triples to have. Instead, this beer has a much more full body, a cloudy, deep golden head with a nice and lasting beige head, and a really fruity, yet balanced aroma and flavor. There is a distinct citrus presence in the flavor as well as sweet, fruity malt and yeastiness in the front, some light spice, bread, and dry grape-like quality in the middle, and then just enough hoppy flavor and bitterness in the finish to balance everything out and add some complexity. The strength of the alcohol is lost in all of the other wonderful flavors. This is a great beer that really exceeded my expectations.
250 ml draught at Bodega in Columbus, Ohio. Rating #1492 for this beer...

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Aug 1, 2002 a typical triple belgian strong ale. the alcohol is very prominent (some would say it tastes of methylated spirits). It has small notes of wheat especially in the aroma. The head is very smart. Not my favourite Chimay though. jazz88 (2237), San Francisco, California, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Oct 8, 2002 Bottle - 09/21/02. A light spicy, fruity, cider, champagne, dry, yeasty, golden blonde ale that tickles the mouth with its joyfulness. This beer will always hold a special place in my heart. On my last night in Hong Kong and the end of a 40 day tour through Asia I smoked a Cuban cigar and had a bottle of Chimay Blanche on the Kowloon side of the bay during the mid-autumn festival late in the evening watching the lights of city and the festive atmosphere of the crowd. I celebrated the end of a big exam a of couple months earlier with a Chimay Rouge, so it was only fitting to end this trip with a Chimay and a Cuban. Both seemed destined to meet at this place and this time. Thanks to Irvin for sharing in the adventure. Miksu (2232), Jyväskylä, Finland

The flavor is packed with herbal hops, orange, clove and pepper, slight sweetness and firm bitterness. Finishes bitter, orangey and spicy. Nice smooth palate and good hoppy edge. Appearance; thickly opaque dark orange hue, with a full-flowering head of foam that dwindles and disappears almost immediately.
Aroma: sharp citrus, yeast, sour, must, ...that’s it...
Taste: rather blase, little going on with the flavor, nothing to busy the palate.
Malt, yeast, thick citric, orangey feel, but little else, small, if any, hops, and fading flavor. Too sharp, too spicy, with little in the body and texture to balance that out. Feels drab, really, leaden, cardboard-y, actually. I don’t re-visit this ale too often, so my memory is fuzzy whether this is supposed to taste so dreary.
Over halfway in, the fruitiness is broader, with more flavors swimming about, juicy, tropical fruits, pineapple, sweet, spicy, kicky...a far cry from the best tripels of Belgium. I may actually look into it, again, to investigate whether this sampling was inferior, and perhaps the brew was meant to taste much more amazingly. Until then...Chimay’s is an underwhelming tripel experience. bluevegie (2209), Perth, Australia
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 14, 2004 This beer was gone before I even had a chance to type my notes out. Anyway here is what I remember, hazy dull orange body with a good size off white head, aroma was fruity and yeasty, taste was lovely! Soft pepper, some malt, raisins and a little cloves. Good alcohol and a lovely mouthfeel.
