Anyway here is what I remember, hazy dull orange body with a good size off white head, aroma was fruity and yeasty, taste was lovely! Soft pepper, some malt, raisins and a little cloves. Good alcohol and a lovely mouthfeel. DYCSoccer17 (2191), Davis, California, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 15/20 | Aug 30, 2003 Pours a honey color with a 2-3cm white head which stays around pretty well with nice lacing. Beer is cloudy with notes of yeast. Aroma is interesting--almost like a sweet banana bread. Start is very smooth with hints of bananas, fruits, and perhaps some other spices. The banana nature is not consistent with a hefeweizen. Carbonation is good and palate is tolerable. willblake (2176), Belcamp, Maryland, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | May 6, 2004 330mL Bottle, 04.06.04 Pours a darker, orangish amber color; head is typically ample for a tripel, lacing, and lasting. Aromas are of ripe white fruits (pear, banana, grapefruit juice) and spice (corriander, clove). It smells and tastes fresh and lithe. A versatile beer, it can take the place of chardonay with a spicey or fishy dish. In fact, some wine notes carry over from nose to flavor. Hops are, as advertised, nicely intertwined with the yeasts, but this beer might just be too hoppy for its own good...its only downfall, IMO. The beer is so fresh tasting, so grassy, peppery, floral, fruity; the finishing betterness adds to the fresh effect. It’s hard to imagine that this is a tripel, it is the antithesis of mellow - it is exciting! whaleman (2171), North Wales, Pennsylvania, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jul 15, 2003 Updated: Feb 20, 2004Golden-orange body with considerable carbonation and a massive frothy white head. Fantastic quality of esters in the aroma: bubble gum, banana, and strawberry. Also orange citrus, yeast, baking soda, hay, and barnyard. Has the Chimay signature aroma that's hard to pinpoint verbally. Fruit peel bitterness, pepper, and flowers in the flavor. Tingly but smooth feel. The smoothest and most drinkable of the Chimay brews. It melts in your mouth. Complex for sure but not in the Chimay Bleu range. GonZoBeeR (2161), ste-Eulalie, Quebec, Canada

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Apr 21, 2006 Slightly malty with some fruitiness although it doesn’t dominate. Well rounded mouthfeel that lingered for some time. A nice example of this style but for some reason it wasn’t quite as good as I expected. EithCubes (2146), Indiana, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | May 26, 2009 Relatively young 33cL bottle. Spicy herbal nose, spicy and dry with some light phenols and lighter noble aroma hops in the deep background. Cloudy orange-amber with a rocky tan head. Extremely dry (unexpectedly so!) with a very mildly tannic grape-skin aftertaste, light bitterness and complex malt. Spicy hops and a little bread, alcohol is superbly hidden, I’d have guessed half the abv. Subtle, nuanced, and has a humdinger of a wallop! A mature brew worth seeking out. mds (2112), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jan 13, 2004 Huge fluffy white head: Bread-like texture. Hazy golden. Looks beautiful in matching Chimay trappist glass. Smooth flavour, alcohol pushes through a little bit. Strong yeast presence, malty, and spicey.
