Commercial Description:
Chimay Blanche (White), with its typical golden colour, its slightly hazy appearance and its fine head is especially characterised by its aroma which results from an agreeable combination of fresh hops and yeast. The beer's flavour, as sensed in the mouth, comes from the smell of hops: above all it is the fruity notes of muscat and raisins that give this beer a particularly attractive aroma. The aroma complements the touch of bitterness. There is no acidity, but an after-bitterness which melts in the mouth. This top fermented Trappist beer, refermented in the bottle, is not pasteurised.
Ingredients: Water, malted barley, wheat starch, sugar, hop extract and yeast. See Protz and John White

This rating is on a bottle approximately five years. Pours dark orange / bronze with some floaties and a decent beige head head for the age. The aroma has musty fruit and the malt has taken on vinious traits. There is also earthy toffee and candi sugar. Medium / full body with minor, but noticeable carbonation. The flavor starts with sweet earthy malt, nuttiness, caramel and honeysuckle. The finish is a bit spicy and zippy. This is quite good considering the age on it. I will have to put an addition to the current rating when I have a fresh bottle.

Nice white head, almost fizzy. Orange colour. A hoppy, fruity aroma. Strong but very drinkable.

11.2 oz bottle - Pours a hazy, light amber with a moderate head that soon fades to thin. It has a citrus and yeast aroma. The flavor mixes the sweetness and sour citrus of a Belgian very well. It’s bubbly, medium bodied and smooth. The 8% ABV is well masked and the finish is crisp. A bit more intensity and complexity would have suited me, but this is certainly a high quality ale.

Amber with a thick white head. Rich dried fruit smell with a slight malt finish. Full fruit finish with a minty after finish. Very pleasant as most trappist beers.

Aroma very orangey, fruity and spicy, also laden with malt. Beer is sort of a medium golden amber color, a little darker than I was expecting, actually. Very generous head. Flavor starts off with some sweet malt tripel-type flavors, but quickly some spicy flavors and even a bit of hops are thrown into the mix. Mouthfeel is a bit on the dry side, body is medium. Finish has a touch of sweetness, but overall is very citrusy, peppery and spicy. Quite a different Tripel than my mind had formed a gastric picture of, but certainly tasty. Nice lacing, too. Pretty good! Lacking a certain degree of complexity that I was sort of hoping for, however, likely bred by the excellence of the ubiquitous Blue and Red.

Corked 750. Huge skunky odor. This stuff even tastes skunked. I didn’t think skunkiness was possible in a brown bottle beer produced from hop extract. I couldn’t even come close to finishing this one, so this is a mercy rating.

Poured cloudy gold with big white head. Good head retention. Grainy spicey aroma with a hint of dark fruit present too. Lovely smooth full body. Nice simple wheaty flavour with a spicey clove-like aftertaste. Hint of citrus in taste too.
