Commercial Description:
Chimay Blanche (White), with its typical golden colour, its slightly hazy appearance and its fine head is especially characterised by its aroma which results from an agreeable combination of fresh hops and yeast. The beer's flavour, as sensed in the mouth, comes from the smell of hops: above all it is the fruity notes of muscat and raisins that give this beer a particularly attractive aroma. The aroma complements the touch of bitterness. There is no acidity, but an after-bitterness which melts in the mouth. This top fermented Trappist beer, refermented in the bottle, is not pasteurised.
Ingredients: Water, malted barley, wheat starch, sugar, hop extract and yeast. See Protz and John White

A great beer. Part of a 3-pak with a free Chimay glass for $6.99, what a bargain. I would have bought all of them if they had more than one. Beautiful hops, great orange/brown color, creamy white head. Not as good as the Blue but definitely something I could drink a lot of.

75 cl bottle from the cellar. Cork date was 07/2001. Pours a cloudy orange yellow hue. Has a 1 finger head which faded in a couple of minutes leaving a smattering of lace. The smell is of spices ; black pepper, lemongrass etc. The beer tastes like it was stored in an oak barrel ; a pretty strong smoked wood, musty, vinous taste with a hint of black pepper, cloves and oranges. Finishes with a tangey, dry hop tone. A most excellent Belgian pale.Dec 2003

These days this is probably my favorite Chimay. A very nicely done Tripel. A murky and dirty yellow appearance. Lots of apricots and peaches in the nose. A somewhat sour and dry taste with some oranges, pears, and peaches showing in the flavor. A spicy and somewhat sour aftertaste. It hides the alcohol quite well. Good one!

Bottle. Sunset orange colour, with peppery alcohol aroma. Patchy medium head. Nettly, minty flavour, with a pinprick mouthfeel, and bags of aroma throughout. Sparkling, bitter aftertaste, with some yeast notes. Easy and pleasant to drink for it's strength.

Hazy, dirty gold pour with a big white head. Lacing lasts all day. Nose is yeast and hops, with an underlying sweetness. Flavor is a touch bitter, slightly yeasty, with a light spiciness. Light mouthfeel, somewhat dry. A solid tripel.
