Commercial Description:
Chimay Blanche (White), with its typical golden colour, its slightly hazy appearance and its fine head is especially characterised by its aroma which results from an agreeable combination of fresh hops and yeast. The beer's flavour, as sensed in the mouth, comes from the smell of hops: above all it is the fruity notes of muscat and raisins that give this beer a particularly attractive aroma. The aroma complements the touch of bitterness. There is no acidity, but an after-bitterness which melts in the mouth. This top fermented Trappist beer, refermented in the bottle, is not pasteurised.
Ingredients: Water, malted barley, wheat starch, sugar, hop extract and yeast. See Protz and John White

Bottle Pours a hazy light yellow/amber with a hugh foamy white head. Hevy lacing. Lots of visible carbonation rising up. Sweet light malts and belgian spice in the aroma. Some notes of warm toast w/ honey. Flavors are much the same but sharper and more bitter. Lively carbonation. Very light grain and slightly sweet malts, almost pilsnerish at first. The immediate aftertaste is where the hops and bitterness kick in. A marked transition. Finish is quick and fairly dry. The ABV is not very noticeable.

My favourite of the Chimays. Cloudy golden colour with a large white head. Nice lacing. Good mouthfeel and lots of carbonation. Lots of fruit and spice in the nose and taste. Slightly bitter finish. Dryer and crisper than the other Chimays. Great beer.

Aromas of yeast, apple, grass and light floral hops. Big frothy white head over a amber-brown body... nice lacing. Caramel malt presence with a fruity undercurrent and a hoppy/yeasty finish. Very well balanced.

(0.33 l bottle, BBE2010, at Kaisla on 2008-06-11) Orange and cloudy. Quite big white dense head. Yeasty and fruity nose. Full and quite dry palate, quite carbonated. Malts and hints of chocolate in taste. Bitter aftertaste. Bit harsh. Perhaps too young.

Elle pas mauvaise, mais je l’ai trouvé très amère. J’ai pu l’esseiller Au Petit Douceur Belge à Québec en forma de 33cl. et dans un embalage cadeau avec le Bleu (2 X 75cl.) avec un verre.

Bottle. Pours a murky orange with a thick, creamy white head. Initial aroma was of skunk, which got fainter as the beer warmed, but was still present. Taste of light fruits (but no distinguishable tastes), spices. Bitter finish. This was good, but lacked the complexity of the Bleu or even the Dubbel.

Bottle from Kegs & Barrels in McKinney, TX. Pours a cloudy deep orange/gold with off-white head. Aroma is great, fruit, citrus, floral, barn. Flavor is just as good, malt, barnyard, citrus, nice little hoppy bitter. Mouthfeel is pretty solid with crisp carbonation. Overall, pretty good stuff!

Re-rate 10/9/07: Bottle (quite a fresh one). Slightly hazy orange color with a medium white head that stays all the way. Fruity and spicy aroma with yeast, citrus (orange) and some wheat. A rather sweet flavor with yeast, fruits, spices, a bit of malt and a long, dry, hoppy finish, with some spice. Medium-bodied with quite alot of carbonation. 7/4/7/3/14=3.5

Bottle. 4 years old. Golden color, a bit hazy, with a big head. A sweet fruity aroma with a bit of yeast. Flavor is fruity and sweet but with some hop bitterness. A bit of pepper. Finishes with nice hoppiness. A medium body. 7/4/7/3/15=3.6
