Pours with an incredible white pillowy head, what else would you expect from a Trappist ale? Slightyl hazy orange/amber with fairly nice lacing. Big yeast aroma with notes of grain and malt. Palate is rather dry with a slight alcohol wrming and a medium mouthfeel. Bready flavor with some possible notes of banana and a bitter finish. Stick with the blue if your drinking Chimay it’s worth the extra money. SuIIy (1449), Jamaica Plain, Massachusetts, USA

Pours clear orange/amber with a creamy off white head. Malt orange and yeast in the nose. Fruity flavors. Toffee, caramel, earthy/ a little dirty with lots of alcohol. Fizzy carbonation. Meh. Chimay has always done terrible in our blind tastings. This one is not an exception. GreatLibations (1441), Last Supper, Arizona, USA

Superb head retention. Lacing is full and clumpy. Aroma is nice w/ banana spice. Medium nectar w/ fluffy residual effers. The texture is very silky. This is a strong flavored tripel w/ exceptional balance and drinkability. Theres a defined mild hop profile w/ nuances of banana fruit spice, green tea, and bitter lime rind. The finish is long and bittered w/ lime rind. Highly recommended. dchmela (1440), Orlando, Florida, USA

Slightly fruity, earthy hop, musty aroma. Spicy hop bitter taste with a nice light malt body and a nice balancing sweetness. SamGamgee (1436), Santa Cruz (La Selva), California, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Sep 5, 2007 Updated: Mar 2, 200933cl bottle from systembolaget in Lund. Pours a murky golden amber with a lasting white head that leaves good lacing. Aroma of banana, caramel, and cinamon, with a pronounced yeasty doughiness. Flavor is much of the same, but with a cloying sweetness that takes over and runs with the flavor. There’s some hop presence, but overall not enough to balance the sweetness out. Body is thick and smooth, with lively carbonation. This is a decent brew, but my least favorite of the Chimays. Red is smoother, and blue is more complex. This is my first tripel, so maybe I’ll give it another shot.
Rerate: Draught at The Red. My tastes have definitely changes since first sampling this back in Lund. Nice tropical fruit and spice in the nose. Definitely not cloying like I thought back then, but not dry for the style. Probably my favorite of the three now. nqualls (1429), Nashville, Tennessee, USA

Good beer and the easiest to drink of the three Chimay beers. robinvboyer (1429), Sturgeon Falls, Ontario, Canada
