Commercial Description:
Chimay Blanche (White), with its typical golden colour, its slightly hazy appearance and its fine head is especially characterised by its aroma which results from an agreeable combination of fresh hops and yeast. The beer's flavour, as sensed in the mouth, comes from the smell of hops: above all it is the fruity notes of muscat and raisins that give this beer a particularly attractive aroma. The aroma complements the touch of bitterness. There is no acidity, but an after-bitterness which melts in the mouth. This top fermented Trappist beer, refermented in the bottle, is not pasteurised.
Ingredients: Water, malted barley, wheat starch, sugar, hop extract and yeast. See Protz and John White

2nd review Nov 2004 Cloudy yeast-filled gold...lemon-cream-biscuit aroma...sweet-sharp acerbic flavor, full mouthfeel, dry and almost bitter late...mouthpuckering sour finish after a sweet, honey light beginning.

Bottle 0,75 L. Creamy white mostly lasting excellent head. Yellow colour. Nice yeasty and exsteme flowery hoppy aroma. Very heavy bitter taste. Long finish and nice oily palate. Fantastic trippel.

Aroma of floral hop and yeast. Brilliant amber color with small motes; a white head that froths and laces. Medium mouthfeel, and a start of mixed fruit. Something lightly caramel follows, and there is hop bitterness for the finish. Very smooth and creamy. None of the foregoing words do it justice. It’s marvelous.

While this is very good, it is my least favorite of the Chimays. Pours with a huge white head and has lots of carbonation. Very cloudy. Has lots of banana in the aroma and flavor. Kinz said it well that tobacco is very strong in the aroma and flavor. This is not complex and the alcohol definitely comes through and gives it some bite. A little piney and slightly citrusy in the finish. A little disapointing after having the other Chimays.

Pleasant, sweet, doughy, yeasty aroma with mild herbal hop notes. Opaque orange-tan with lasting cover of white head. Very sweet up front with puckering, dry finish. Fairly strong carbonation detracts somewhat from overall enjoyment. Bottle enjoyed with beerhugger, CapFlu, DumDum, muzzlehatch, radiomb and Rastacouere.

Hazy amber hue with a nice head and good lacing, medium-bodied. Fresh fruity and pine aroma. Undertones of spice, grapes, hay, and cheese. Creamy yet lively mouthfeel leads to a very nice taste. Balance sweetness and acidic quality. Bitterness shows in the finish as does some alcohol. I'm still not quite convinced this is a true tripel, more akin to a dubbel in my book, and that's all that matters.

amber blonde beer, with a typical belgian hop nose, triple in style but not best example
