Nose of hops in a big way, more hoppy then I expected. Hits the palate smooth with some fruit and malt flavors, and of course some hops. Pailhead (2610), Allen Park, Michigan, USA

Pours a nice transparent gold with a large white head with great retention. Very nice lacing. Some very small sediment floating around. Flavor is fruity with a slight bitter finish. Leaves a short sweet aftertaste. Some alcohol taste but nothing overbearing. A very nice balance. Excellent beer. (7-4-8-4-18)
Bottle (33cL): Re-rate...Really nice floral aroma with some moderate spiciness and faint apple. It pours a hazy orange with lots of sediment and a moderate yellow-tinged white creamy head with very good retention. The lacing really clings and coats the glass. The flavor starts lightly fruity with apples, raisins, citrus, and yeast. The finish is a combination of moderate spiciness, pepper, and moderate floral hops. Medium bodied with lively, but soft, carbonation. I was expecting my Chimay re-rates to all go down. This was even better than I remembered and actually went up. | 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Aug 18, 2004 Lacing and a full white head -- many different golden hues. Aromas are overwhelmingly of hops, but there is also some fig and yeast. The beer is full and complex on the palate, with a going-away, not-unpleasant kick of bitterness at the end. A great beer, and a classic. Tejas (704), Dallas, Texas, USA

Silky smooth on the tongue. Very pretty and the taste is fantastic. What’s not to like about a slightly citrus flavored, extremely drinkable Trappist Ale? Very much look forward to trying this one again. lbishop (8), Tulsa, Oklahoma, USA does not count | 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Nov 21, 2004 Very good beer. So far, the best Tripel I’ve had. But anything in the Chimay line will be top shelf. This is a reasonbly light tasting beer as well as light in color. The flavor is pleasantly fruity with just the slightest hint of a favorably bitter after taste. Just enough to make you look forward to the next taste ot it. harrisoni (6947), Ashford, Kent, England

Re-rate. OK not so much a re-rate, but I had this on tap at ’tWaagstuk in Antwerp so I guess it may be slightly different. Hazy gold with lasting creamy head. Slightly spicy hoppy yeasty aroma. Creamy in mouth. Hop profile is perfect for my tastes. Even slightly buttery in mouth. One of my real favourites bigrond (1055), factoryville, Pennsylvania, USA
