Takes a few sips to really clear the palate for this beer. Strong, up front hop flavor with definite alcohol and subtle malt notes. Good body. Goes down smooth with a clean finish. Wasn’t sure what to think at first but this beer has grown on me in just a few tastes. tykjen (182), Florø, Norway

Warming alcohol and a huge head. Good belgian character, but it is not in any way overdone. daniel0017 (232), Ontario, Canada
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 3/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Nov 1, 2006 Sweet and impeccable bouquet reminds me of pineapple ham fresh from the oven. Hazy light-amber body with thin bubbly white head that leaves intricate lacing pattern on trappist glass. The flavor is really something else... Savoured slowly, I was able to discern many layers in this beer, none of which overpowers the other: Hint of cloves and nutmeg at first then yield to creamy barley malts, yeast and hops only to finish off on an even, bitter tone. The mouthfeel is velvety smooth yet vibrant as you swallow it down. So far this is the beer that all others have to own up to. Haven’t tried the blue and red yet. I’m expecting those to be better still. orville (160), Sun Prairie, Wisconsin, USA

Amber-orange color with medium haziness and frothy white head. Alcoholic figs, sugar candy, coriander, slight muscatel sweetness in the aroma. Good balance between the fruity esters and the herbal hops in the mouthfeel. More balanced body than Westmalle Triple.

| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Aug 25, 2009 Pours a nice hazy orange color with a medium to small white head that is tightly knit and kinda frothy. The aroma is a mix of floral hops, warm yeast, and light clove. The flavor is soft, mellow, and complex. Sweet at first, quickly fading into a spiced mix of what seems like white grapes and a light Belgian wit. It then fades to a soft bitterness that seems to come out of nowhere, accompanied by the faintest hint of alcohol warming. Mouthfeel goes from light and sweet to thick and soft, then slightly bitter and leaves a little sugar on the teeth. A lot of depth to this one, an awesome sipper. sdriessen (208), Dunedin, New Zealand
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 18/20 | Jan 7, 2009 Fluffy, off-white head. Mildly cloudy, orange/amber hue. Looks wonderful in the Chimay chalice.
A honey sweetness in the nose, some citrus and bubblegum. Some malt and herbs in the aroma.
Flavours are complex, with citrus zest and a resiny hops that give it gorgeous flavour and a nice bitterness. Some spicy clove in the flavours, and the alcohol presents itself well. Amazing. coldmeat23 (233), Tulsa, Oklahoma, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Nov 17, 2009 Lovely golden amber colored liquid. Nice two-finger foamy white head. Okay retention and some quite decent lacing.
Bananas. Powerful smell of bananas strikes first. Nice caramely malt scent. Earthy yeastiness. Slight spiciness to it.
Pan-fried bananas with carmelized brown sugar and hints of clove and corriander. Nice yeasty bread notes. Roasted malt notes make a slight appearance.
Good creamy smooth feeling in the mouth. Very good carbonation level. Nice tiny little bubbles that dance over your tongue and down your throat.
With the alcohol so well hidden, this is an excellently drinkable brew. Nice and easy.
