Commercial Description:
Chimay Blanche (White), with its typical golden colour, its slightly hazy appearance and its fine head is especially characterised by its aroma which results from an agreeable combination of fresh hops and yeast. The beer's flavour, as sensed in the mouth, comes from the smell of hops: above all it is the fruity notes of muscat and raisins that give this beer a particularly attractive aroma. The aroma complements the touch of bitterness. There is no acidity, but an after-bitterness which melts in the mouth. This top fermented Trappist beer, refermented in the bottle, is not pasteurised.
Ingredients: Water, malted barley, wheat starch, sugar, hop extract and yeast. See Protz and John White

An excellent beer. I love the Chimays. The Bleu has more ’hmph’ than the Red & White...this is why I smuggle the Bleu through customs when I go oversees. (I can not find it in Georgia, though I have seen the red in Louisiana.)

Yet another Chimay that rocks. I poured this and let it sit for awhile. As it warmed, it got better. A ton of lace on the glace and a beautfiul golden orange hue in the glass. I want to go to Belgium.

Quite surprised by this one, wouldn’t go out of my way to call it a Tripel, it seemed too unique for any classification. Held one in the cellar for a year or so, and poured it (12-14 degrees) into a stumpy tulip glass. A big dense two layered whitish head formed from the pour, atop a hazy peach body, with a lot of fine yeast that remained captured in suspension. Sweet toffee, lemon and orange peel nose with a balance of vanilla and drying herbal and floral hops. Aroma followed each mouthful well. Smooth, yet high in carbonation (not biting), very fruity and yeasty. Lightly spiced, husky and mellowing; light fruity smooth swallow, long and a little warming. Beautifully balanced and well rounded in its sweetish flavours throughout, smooth and very dry in the mouth (driest of the chimay’s) it, honestly, deserves another sip, more complex than my notes, this was a lovely beer that shouldn’t be labelled a tripel. Absolutely lovely and unique!!! (75cL Cinq cents, BBE 2005)

Very good example of a triple, too bad I had to go to Tennessee to get it. Poured into a Chimay glass on a cold winter night and it just made the winter blues melt away.

Got to taste this treat on tap at Firewater’s in Atlantic City. Poured a rich, thick golden haze with a fluffy white head. Aromas of apple and spice. Taste is first slightly sweet, then the spice hits. There is a pleasantly warming alcoholic aftertaste. Quite enjoyable, but the kick will catch up to you after more than two.

Bottle (33 cl) from Systembolaget Cloudy orange, large, thick and creamy white head. Wonderful aroma full of fruity and slightly roasted malts, earthy, spicy and herbal notes of yeast and hops. Medium bodied and silky smooth. Flavour starts with a wonderful sweet touch followed by a dry and moderately bitter finish. A fantastic tripel.

A fantastic beer in my humble opinion. Huge hoppy aroma imediately from the bottle. Beautiful pour which shows off its amber cloudy body and huge white head. This disipated pretty rapidly, but the tast left behind was amazing. Slight alcohol touch is the only negative thing about it. Loads of hops with a very sweet malty depth. Some strong yeast is present, as is a sweet spicy aroma. A hopheads delight!

[bottle] Pours out beautiful, with a cleat golden color and generous white head. This beer is a fine Tripel with a boost of hops in both aroma and flavor. Extremely complex, slightly spicy. Hops are especially present in the long aftertaste. Finishes warm and bready. This is my favorite of the Chimay offerings.
