Commercial Description:
Chimay Blanche (White), with its typical golden colour, its slightly hazy appearance and its fine head is especially characterised by its aroma which results from an agreeable combination of fresh hops and yeast. The beer's flavour, as sensed in the mouth, comes from the smell of hops: above all it is the fruity notes of muscat and raisins that give this beer a particularly attractive aroma. The aroma complements the touch of bitterness. There is no acidity, but an after-bitterness which melts in the mouth. This top fermented Trappist beer, refermented in the bottle, is not pasteurised.
Ingredients: Water, malted barley, wheat starch, sugar, hop extract and yeast. See Protz and John White

Bottle. Sweet aroma - apple, peach. Orange tan color with small head. Light peach/apple flavor with moderate acidic/astringent finish. Subdued but sublime - a great beer.

A very good Belgian beer. It lacks the absolute complexities found in the grande reserve, but can certainly hold its own as a giant among beers. I like the fruityness in both the nose and the flavor. This is a beer I highly recommend.

A bright yet hazy golden colour that is very inviting....the tast is unique for a Belgian in that it is somewhat dry and hoppy, without much sweetness (along the lines of Orval, but not as intense). It is perfectly balanced and the alcohol well hidden, a very refreshing and satisfying brew.

This was my first Tripel and still the best I’ve had. Its also my favorite of the Chimay’s. Pours a beautiful golden color with an incredible head. Better pour it slow. Nice spicy taste without being overdone. I love the bitter aftertaste that sneaks up on you with every sip.

Bottle Pours a cloudy amber with a big creamy white head. Awesome aromas of spicy carmel and lightly fruity hops. Medium body and a great mouthfeel. My mouth never wanted this beer to end. Great flavors and vey smooth. This is a great beer.

Pours a cloudy, golden orange, with a large frothy white head. Aroma is of floral hops, yeast, grapefruit, and spices. Body is very nice with the right amount of carbonation. Grapefruit from the hops, fruit, yeast, and a bit of spice shine through in the flavor. Ends bitter with the citrus really coming through then. A very well done tripel.

I first had this as one of a 3-pack with a glass included. I just drank that little guy and didn’t review it. I liked it well enough that I bought this 750ml caged and corked bottle that I’m reviewing. After removing the cork and getting one of the younger pairs of eyes in the house I confirmed the date on the cork, 06/04. :-) The color is a bright light orange gold color and there is plenty of stuff floating around in the glass, my new Chimay glass of course. It formed a nice inch high creamy head that had some staying power when first poured. The aroma off the head was very hoppy, but after the head died down there were some fruity smells. Now the taste is quite different than that small bottle I had. I get a leather taste which for me is the first time I’ve ever tasted this in a beer. There is a little fruit on the palate and the finish is clean and slightly hoppy.

Bottle, 330 ml. pour a pale golden color with a thick frothy white head. Aroma of hop, yeast, leaves, apricot and raisin. Hight carbonation strong bitterness. Flavor of bread, raisin pit and bark. Taste almost like a wine...Really good. Don’t drink it to cold.
