Flavor is fruity (pear, white grape) with a dry hops bite. Crisp, fruity finish that goes down very smooth. Excellent. Goodgrief (1161), Middletown, Delaware, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Sep 3, 2007 Poured with HUGE head and nice lacing (still staring at me from the empty glass). Color was a tad darker than other Trippels I’ve had. The mouthfeel on this was perfect. It kind of foamed in my mouth...just perfect amount of carbonation. The flavor was a tad weak in my opinion, but a solid trippel nonetheless. What struck me about this beer was the hoppiness that I’ve not seen present in many other Belgians. mtdshn (174), Moline, Illinois, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Aug 28, 2006 Bottle. Pours a fairly watery golden orange with a large, sticky, foamy head. Scents are fairly common for a tripel: yeast, alcohol, oranges, apricot, cinnamon, nutmeg. My first impression of this beer was it’s very dry. It has a distinct hop character but is fairly smooth and full of flavor. Erdinger2003 (127), Ames, Iowa, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Dec 12, 2007 This beer popped open and almost took my eye out before I even got the metal thing twisted complety off. This is the best looking bier I have seen in a while and leaves a pillowy white head on top with a lacing that "just won’t quit". Smells fruity, hoppy, and clovey. It has a fairly suddle scent to it. The flavor is dominated by hops. It tastes fruity as well , but dominated by hops. I can see where it would taste awsome if I could get more fruity smell and taste to it. I wonder why it was so dominated by hops. newtrip (55), USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Nov 17, 2005 Poured with above average size off-white head that was a little rocky. Aroma is of fruit, caramel, grain. Taste is very creamy, sweet, caramel, slightly citrus. Finish is dry, bitter and spicy with a nice hint of alcohol coming through at the very last. Very warming. I had this before but don’t remember it being this good. I think maybe it was served too cold last time. As it warms the flavors really come out. altkencru (143), USA

| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Mar 2, 2006 Pours a hazy gold beer with a huge white rocky head that lingers for a while. It shows a lot of sediments and leaves an excellent lacing. Strong Tripel aroma with a fruity character that presents light notes of caramel and brown sugar and hints of honey, vanilla, peaches, apricots, pears and even some spicy touches. The hops give it some resin and pine notes. Well-disguised alcohol. The flavor is well rounded and complex as the smell. It starts sweet and powerful, ending with a nice soft bittersweet and alcoholic combination with some bread, that leaves a great aftertaste. Strong for a tripel, almost full bodied, it is however incredibly smooth and has a syrupy texture. The carbonation is soft and doesn’t detracts from the flavors. The end is moderately alcoholic.
One hell of a Tripel!! yespr (12406), Copenhagen O, Denmark
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Sep 16, 2007 33 cL bottle. Pours hazy orange with a huge huge off-white creamy head. Lovely spiced yeasty and caramel malty aroma. Soft caramel flavoured with a small spice note breaking through in the beginning. Goes into a more yeast and spice dominated flavour. Ends slight bitter and spiced. This is by far my favourite chimay and one of the best belgians of all.
