Commercial Description:
Chimay Blanche (White), with its typical golden colour, its slightly hazy appearance and its fine head is especially characterised by its aroma which results from an agreeable combination of fresh hops and yeast. The beer's flavour, as sensed in the mouth, comes from the smell of hops: above all it is the fruity notes of muscat and raisins that give this beer a particularly attractive aroma. The aroma complements the touch of bitterness. There is no acidity, but an after-bitterness which melts in the mouth. This top fermented Trappist beer, refermented in the bottle, is not pasteurised.
Ingredients: Water, malted barley, wheat starch, sugar, hop extract and yeast. See Protz and John White

Cloudy, unfiltered orange with a monstrously creamy thick off-white head. Aroma of banana, clove and fresh grassy hops. Flavor has notes of white wine, some caramel, banana, clove, lemon, some pear and ending with plenty of zesty earthy floral hops. Plesant sweetness, beautifully balanced by the hops. The body is very full, with a nice, airy texture and lively fine-beaded carbonation - just perfect. Lacing coats the entire glass, thick creamy head retention until the very end. Great stuff.

Bought a gift pack tonight with the red, white and blue Chimay along with the big chimay glass for $10.99. The white poured a loghtorange/ amber with a thick heavy white head. Nice aroma of hops and citrus. Hops is the flavor with a light alcohol finish. Much better than thr blue...at least for me.

This is a re-rate... Hazy yellow color with medium head. Spicy, floral nose. Apricot, banana, orange, grapefruit, and grape flavors, with nice yeast fullness. Not as sweet as Tripel Karmeliet, but flavors are more complex and not overwhelmed by honey. Mildly bitter aftertaste that leaves me wanting more.

Yellow to golden colored with a thick vigorous head. Two mintues later still an inch of head. I usually do not like anything this lightly colored but you know with the head it is going to be special, and it is Chimay. Beautiful smells of yeast, spice, apple and currants. Like a milder Unibroue. Very textured entry, frothy to chewy to thinner with alcohol. A little spice, a little citrus jam or marmalade and currants with a yeasty, malty aftertaste. Not as good as the Blue Lable, but still outstanding.

Wow! Isn’t this kind of Belgian wit-ish? I see in others’ reviews lots of orange, coriander references, and I agree, and those are usually qualities in a good wit, right? I loved this one. As different from the Bleu as can be, yet a gem in its own right.

Draft @ Falling Rock: Small creamy head sits atop a cloudy, orange body. Bread, caramel and cinnamon dominate the yeasty nose. Lemongrass, herbs and wood as well. The body is thick and creamy with soft carbonation. Banana, bubble gum, apple and honey are wrapped in more cinnamon and ginger. Long finish lets you enjoy this complex creation. Fantastic!

Not a huge fan of Belgian beers, but those who are say this is one of the best. Golden, with a distinct taste that, like many Belgian beers, isn’t quite "beer like." Try it for yourself.
