Commercial Description:
Chimay Blanche (White), with its typical golden colour, its slightly hazy appearance and its fine head is especially characterised by its aroma which results from an agreeable combination of fresh hops and yeast. The beer's flavour, as sensed in the mouth, comes from the smell of hops: above all it is the fruity notes of muscat and raisins that give this beer a particularly attractive aroma. The aroma complements the touch of bitterness. There is no acidity, but an after-bitterness which melts in the mouth. This top fermented Trappist beer, refermented in the bottle, is not pasteurised.
Ingredients: Water, malted barley, wheat starch, sugar, hop extract and yeast. See Protz and John White

RE-RATE: Had this on tap at Monk’s. Still quite good. Has a little extra silkiness to on tap. Original: An excellent beer. I’ve been so keen on trying others that I haven’t had this since RateBeer started. Full bodied enough, but just a little ’light’ as compared to some other of this type. As for tripels, I prefer the Allagash or Duvel.

It seems the perfect beer to me. Although it is a very classic one. You taste the force of it...Unbelievable. Tip: Do not drink 2 of this beers at the end of an evening ;-)

330ml bottle. Cloudy golden color body with lots of particles and a very nice rocky white head. Aroma is spicy and sweet. Many different flavours complementing each others. Yeast, orange, peppery spices, biscuit malt, warm alcohol feel, sweetness, I’ll stop here. Very lively carbonation. Astringent finish that dries the mouth, leaves a long spicy after-taste and makes you want to sink right back into it. Very complex beer that felt more crowded than a Turkey prison cell.

Hazy gold with a firm white head. A trace of sediment. Yeasty aroma with a background sweetness. The taste is more bitter than I expected. At first this was a surprise, but I began to appreciate the combination of dryness and spicy yeast more and more. This would be a good introduction to Belgian beer for someone, like me, brought up on traditional English bitters.
