travita (645), Lewisville, Texas, USA Apr 25, 2008 High carbonation. Orange to amber in color with a big foamy head. Yeasty, spicy, and sweet in the smell. Much of the same from the smell is in the taste. Pretty good.
Crunchie (26), Somerset, England Jul 17, 2008 Had a much fresher version than I have been drinking recently and it really showed in aroma. Real hop aroma, some resin and citrus combined with a distinct clove character. Lots of hops race around the palate, oranges and spices and a full malt body all interplay on the path to a dryness and bitterness that last. Perhaps with some black pudding or soused mackerel? I have always had a fondness for the slightly hazy golden tinged orange colour. It looks great and strangely perfect in a Chimay glass. zappafan99 (214), Rock Hill, South Carolina, USA Jul 15, 2008 Taste 7/8 Murk Orange, nice lacing foam. Aroma: Citrus, plum, yeast. Taste: Crisp, full, yeasty, sweet, sour, fruity. Cohesive and smooth. Nice Scauca (203), Lovere, Italy Jul 15, 2008 Golden with a huge creamy lasting white head. Yeasty, orangey, peppery sustained by a nice malt. Flavourful, peppery, dry, with a nice bitter end. A very good beer if well cellared. Definitely the best of Chimay’s. MuttyD (38), Cambridge, USA Jul 14, 2008 Brown/golden color. Hoppy aroma and dark fruit and caramel maltiness. Finish is slightly hoppy but more concentrated on the malts. mikkopen (87), Oulu, Finland Jul 14, 2008 330 ml bottle. Hazy orange colour with tiny bits of yeast and a big frothy white head. Fruity aroma with some hops and spices. Soft and foamy mouthfeel. Spicy, fruity flavour and a long bitter hoppy finish. An excellent beer, very enjoyable.
