Commercial Description:
Chimay Blanche (White), with its typical golden colour, its slightly hazy appearance and its fine head is especially characterised by its aroma which results from an agreeable combination of fresh hops and yeast. The beer's flavour, as sensed in the mouth, comes from the smell of hops: above all it is the fruity notes of muscat and raisins that give this beer a particularly attractive aroma. The aroma complements the touch of bitterness. There is no acidity, but an after-bitterness which melts in the mouth. This top fermented Trappist beer, refermented in the bottle, is not pasteurised.
Ingredients: Water, malted barley, wheat starch, sugar, hop extract and yeast. See Protz and John White

Pours a slightly hazy apricot with a tall, chunky off white head that fades to 1 finger after a while and holds pretty well there. Aroma is grass, citrus, sweet bread spices, coriander, lots of floral hops, a hint of bubble gum and pepper. Flavor is sweet cereal gran, yeasty bread, lemon poppyseed bread, wheat, straw, citrus, light fruity notes, a hint of earthy hearbal hops and some mineral notes. Finishes with herbal, citrus hops mineral notes a light bitterness and a little spice. Palate is medium bodied, pretty highly carbonated with a slightly creamy entry leading to a dry, somewhat chalky finish. Good stuff overall, a really nice tripel that seems to be available everywhere.

Squat bottle poured into Chimay glass. Golden body, the foam outlasts the beer. Fruit aroma (maybe apricots), but the taste is a bit more stern. Fair amount of hop bitterness, yeasty, spicy, white grapes... almost winey. Dry finish. I drank this warmer than the recommended 45, which probably brought out more flavors at the expense of refreshment.

Poured golden with dense white head. Musty aroma. Spicy flavor with hint of Belgian candi sugar. Slightly musty, dry horseblanket flavor. Dry finish.

Bottle. Poured amber-brown in color with a large frothy head that lasted throughout and good lacing. The aroma was of resin hops and a leathery yeast with a hint of raisins. It tasted bitter of hops at first and finished about the same with the flavor lasting an average duration. Mouthfeel was medium to full bodied with a creamy-dry texture. Overall an excellent trappist ale.

Not a very strong aroma. Slightly darker than other tripels, very sparkling with a nice frothy head. Nice flowery hoppiness with cheesiness. Long and slightly bitter finish.

Bottle. Pours a dark amber hazy color with a large, dense white head. Lacing is ridiculously strong. Aromas of spruce, banana, dough, and hay. Palate is exceptionally smooth with a very creamy finish. Tastes of banana, butterscotch, bread and smooth citrus. This beer is just plain awesome. Greatness has been achieved.

This was an unbelievable beer. Personally I’m a fan of Trappist ales, so it’s probably a bit of a bias. It was on tap, a fantastic two finger head pour. At first i wasn’t so accustomed to it but as i drank, it became amazingly better. The muscat flavor is probably the most prevalent and noticeable. For anyone who enjoys the Trappist beers, this is an excellent tripel.
